Have you joined the RyanSchultz.com Steals, Deals & Freebies group yet? I will be posting EVEN MORE news and tips on finding fabulous freebies and bargains in Second Life than I post here on the blog! More information on this brand new SL group here.
I don’t know how I missed this bargain (my freebie fashionista skills must be slipping!), but Second Life skin maker 7 Deadly S[k]ins has a daily dollarbie deal for you! The store sells skins for a variety of brands of mesh heads, including Genus, LeLutka, Catwa, and LAQ, and the packages I have picked up so far include head skin, plus Bakes on Mesh skin in a range of skin tones (usually, ten).
It can be somewhat tricky to search for the store name because of the weird punctuation, so just do a search for “deadly” under Places in Search, or use this SLURL. 7 Deadly S[k]ins is also one of those annoying stores with a forced, central spawn point, so you’ll land up outside the entrance of the store. Go inside, and you’ll be facing the front counter. Enter the door on the right, then go straight through a second door, then turn left, and the Today’s Offer vendor panel will be on the wall.
You don’t need to join any group; just pay the vendor L$1. The offer changes every day, and consists of a generous fatpack of skins in various skin tones. Here is today’s gift, the Jeanelle skin for LeLutka Evo heads:
Here are a couple of examples of skins from previous days which I picked up for only L$1, the Gaelic and Francis skins, both for Genus mesh heads.
I particularly like this last one, the Francis skin in walnut!
Given that most fatpacks of skins at 7 Deadly S[k]ins sell for L$850, this is quite the bargain! The store sells skins for a variety of brands of mesh heads, so simply show up every day to check out the latest offering! Happy freebie shopping!
The Uber shopping event is celebrating its 7th anniversary in Second Life, and instead of making all the gifts available on a single shopping sim, the organizers have decided to turn it into a hunt. You are searching for a gift box hidden in each of the participating stores (here’s the website with the SLURLs and hints). There’s no need to join any group, just click on the gift box and it’s yours!
Now, you should be aware that many of these gifts are additional HUDs that will only work with a separate article of clothing which the store has for sale this round! However, I have picked out three very nice gifts which stand on their own.
From BREATHE comes this generous gift, a complete fatpack of these subtly patterned women’s pumps (they come in 18 colours, plus 3 colour options for the sole, to match whatever you’re wearing):
The gift from Neve is this well-made overshirt/jacket, which comes with a HUD with eight colour choices. It’s the perfect finishing touch for your autumn outfit!
Finally, the gift from Glam Affair is this beautiful freckled fair skin for LeLutka Evo X heads, which comes in four versions with different coloured eyebrows (blonde, red, brown, black), plus one with no eyebrows if you wish to add your own. Please note that you will have to shell out for the matching Glam Affair fair body skin at L$299, though. However, I still think it’s a great bargain and I’m quite happy with this look:
Naria Panthar has posted a very helpful video showing you most of the over 125 gifts (she recommends you watch it on fast forward and just visit those stores whose gifts interest you):
Happy freebie shopping!
UPDATE August 29th, 2021: If you don’t have the time to watch Naria Panthar’s video, here is another video by Peach Daniel which covers most of the Uber 7th anniversary hunt gifts in just ten minutes!
…Aaand one more gift to show you all! While the Uber hunt gift at BAZAR is a bit hard to find, it is well worth the trouble, because you get this adorable popcorn machine to decorate your virtual home! Add a few movie posters and you’re all set!
First, before we get started today, I wanted to alert you that the Lara Hurley Skin store is offering a free head skin and shape for that freebie Chelsea head you picked up from LOGO, if you were on the ball! The Lara Hurley group is free to join, and the Maria group gift is free, just join the group and click the panel shown here:
The Bales on Mesh Maria skin comes as a full-head tattoo, with or without the black eyebrows, plus a couple of optional blushes. I think she looks quite striking with the black eyeliner!
Now, you will need to find a BoM skin to match, as there is not one included in the Maria gift package. However, in the next room over, are a number of other free group gifts, and one of them is a perfect body match to the Maria head skin!
O.K., now that we got that out of the way, let’s dive into the Advent calendar goodies available today! The December 5th Advent calendar gift from Virtue are the casual Margarita overalls outfit in yellow and blue (the Virtue group is free to join):
From Entice comes this lovely light blue top and matching skirt (the Entice group is free to join):
Pink Mango is offering a similar outfit, a gray wool top and skirt, as their December 5th Advent calendar gift (the Pink Mango group is free to join):
The gift from Justice is this sexy red dress, with a HUD to change the colour of the metal zippers as shown (the Justice group is free to join):
Today’s gift from Firelight Hair is the long, swept-back Lisea hairstyle, which comes with a mini-HUD with three shades of red (the Firelight group is free to join):
Don’t forget to pick up all the Vagrant group gifts tucked behind the Christmas tree, including this skimpy little seasonal top which comes with a HUD with four different Christmas patterns:
Ho ho ho, indeed! (*badum tss*!!!)…and that is all the freebies I have for you today, folks!
Don’t forget to hit Wow Skins and 7 Deadly S[k]ins for their December 5th advent calendar gifts (if you belong to their groups). Here is today’s gift from Wow Skins, called Asia, in the sandy skin tone (the group join fee is L$199):
And today’s gift from 7 Deadly S[k]ins is the Hope skin in apricot (the group join fee is L$1,000):
UPDATE July 31st, 2020: Please note that the Wow skins and cosmetics store has moved; here is the SLURL to the new store. The Bakes on Mesh feet and finger fixes package I talked about in the blogpost below can be picked up from a shelf located on the second floor of the store (see the diagram with the green arrow).
The advent of Bakes on Mesh has meant that many people are now looking for BoM skins for their mesh avatars. Today, I wanted to share with you a true bargain: the group gifts from WOW Skins! It costs only L$99 to join the WOW Skins group, which gives you literally dozens of system/Bakes on Mesh skins, which works out to about L$2 per skin, a real deal! In some cases, the group gift skins come in only one skin tone, and in other cases, they come in a range of skin tones.
Just to the left of the main entrance to the store (exact SLURL), there is a panel where you can pick up the current month’s group gift, plus a gift box on the shelf below the panel, where you can pick up all the previous group gifts, all at once! Very efficient.
But first, without joining any group, you can pick up The Stay at Home Club’s free gift from WOW Skins, Sonia, which comes in a full range of skin tones:
The Stay at Home Club gift is in the gifts and lucky boards room, which is located in the far left-hand side wing of the main Wow Skins store. There are also a number of gift boxes with skins, if you join the various SL groups listed on the panels below each gift, such as Fabulously Free in SL and SL Frees & Offers:
Now, let’s take a look at some of these free group gifts!
This is the July 2020 group gift, the Malaika skin in the sandy skin tone, which comes in system/Bakes on Mesh versions as well as Maitreya, Catwa, and Omega appliers:
Here is the June 2020 group gift from WOW Skins, the Anita skin in the sandy skin tone:
And here is the group gift from May 2020, the truly lovely Elora skin in bronze:
Now, please keep in mind that for some of the older group gifts (a few of which date back to 2013), there will be some problems at the fingernail bases and the toes when applied to mesh bodies. For example, here is what the Dama skin looks like on the Classic female mesh body by Meshbody:
Fortunately, there is an easy fix for this! Just pick up the free set of Bakes on Mesh feet and finger fixes available at League (here’s the exact SLURL). They come in a wide variety of skin tones, and you should be able to find a close match.
UPDATE July 31st, 2020: I have just discovered that, tucked away on a shelf on the second floor of the new location of the Wow Skins store, there is a free set of Bakes on Mesh hands and feet fixes for older Wow skins! The advantage of this particular set is that they come in all the Wow skin tones, and will match these group gift skins exactly!
Here’s the exact SLURL; you’ll need to show the location on the map in your SL viewer, and follow the red arrow from the default spawn point on the sim. Just click on the box indicated by the green arrow, and buy it for zero Lindens:
With that problem addressed, let’s take a look at the group gift system/Bakes on Mesh skins from WOW Skins! Please note that all of these skins have the makeup baked in; you won’t be able to remove the eye shadow, eyeliner, or lipstick on any of these skins.
WOW Skins come in a variety of skin tones. If the group gift skin tells you what the skin tone is, I have listed it in parentheses after the name of the skin.
