Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Pick up 72 Free Clothing Fatpacks at the Scandalize Outlet Store for a Limited Time!

Please note that I am taking the rest of the summer off as a self-imposed vacation from the blog so I can focus on my other work, except for sponsored blogposts, and the occasional exception such as this post. See you in September!

Scandalize has always been one of the most generous stores on the Second Life grid in terms of free group gifts, with a group gift wall in-store just heaving with free clothing and footwear. It costs L$100 to join the Scandalize store group, but you get so much in return it really is a no-brainer (or watch and wait for times when they have a free group join, too; they usually do it two or three times per year).

Well, Scandalize recently set up an outlet store on their sim, and to kick it off with a bang, you can join a new, free group called Scandals SL Frees & News and scoop up no less than seventy-two full fatpacks of older Scandalize outfits, all for FREE! This is such an outstanding deal that I decided to break my self-imposed vacation from the blog to tell you about it.

Here’s the SLURL to the Scandalize Outlet store; when you arrive you will be prompted to join the new, free Scandals SL Free & News group (or you can just click on the panel as shown below. Once you have joined the group, just click on the Scandals tag in the corner of each clothing panel to pick up a complete fatpack (i.e. all colours and patterns, including ombre tones in some cases) of that particular outfit!

Most of the clothing comes in sizes to fit Maitreya Lara, Slink Physique and Hourglass, and Belleza Venus, Isis and Freya mesh bodies. Because many of these outfits show a fair bit of bare skin, they might not work well with other kinds of mesh bodes (such as the freebie or paid-for Altamura mesh bodies, particularly around the pelvic area).

However, there are now several free and inexpensive mesh bodies that are Maitreya Lara compatible. One of them is the Atenea mesh body from LucyBody, which is a free Lucky Board prize (more information is available here). Maitreya Lara clothing and Slink footwear fit this body very well, and for only L$197 you can pick up a Bakes on Mesh applier HUD to allow you to wear any Bakes on Mesh skin with it.

I have also written about a few other mesh bodies that claim to be Maitreya Lara compatible, in my constantly-updated list of free and inexpensive heads and bodies for female avatars. Check it out! You don’t need to spend a fortune to be able to wear Maitreya Lara-compatible clothing and have it look good!

Another option for a Maitreya Lara-compatible mesh body is the new Anya full-body (i.e. head and body) mesh avatar by Kalhene, which has recently opened up a small store opposite the N-Core Design footwear store (here’s the SLURL).

For only L$1,695 you get a beautiful, completely-adjustable Bento mesh head and body, with a detailed HUD, complete with a starter wardrobe of clothing and shoes, plus a set of lovely, realistic-looking Bakes on Mesh skins in a variety of skin tones! The Anya package even includes hair, plus an AO for the face, hands, and eyes! All you need to do is add your own animation override (for the body) and you’re all set.

Compare everything that you get in the Kalhene package with paying L$2,750 for the Maitreya Lara body, alone, after which you will also have to shell out for a pricey Bento head (Catwa heads are L$5,000 each), plus pay for skin appliers, etc. etc. You can easily see what a deal the Kalhene mesh body package is (even if you decide to just use the body, pairing it with a different Bakes on Mesh-compatible mesh head).

The Kalhene Anya mesh body

(Note that Kalhene is also selling Alexa, a flat-chested/transgender mesh avatar, which is compatible with Maitreya Lara with the V-tech flat chest add-on, for the same price, L$1,695.)

Now that we’ve discussed Maitreya Lara-compatible mesh bodies, let’s take a look at some of the clothes I picked up for free at the Scandalize outlet store! Here is the Axcid dress, which comes in two separate parts, the dress and the sleeves, in a complete fatpack of colours:

The Clae outfit consists of a cropped leather jacket with a belted miniskirt, which comes in a variety of colours and patterns (the jacket comes in a wide range of colours, including black):

The stunning Scarlett full-length ballgown comes in a complete fatpack of solid and ombre tones:

Finally, we have the sexy Kya romper, where the top, belt, and shorts can be configured via HUD to a wide variety of different colours and camouflage patterns!

I have heard that these 72 Scandalize clothing fatpacks are only going to be made available for a two-week period, so don’t delay! Hurry down and snap up these fabulous freebies before they’re gone!! Happy freebie shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Free Group Gifts from DM!

Please note that I am taking the entire month of July off as a self-imposed vacation from the blog so I can focus on my other work, except for sponsored blogposts, and the occasional exception such as this post. See you in August!

I stumbled across the virtual womenswear store DM in my usual peripatetic travels around the Second Life grid, which I had never been to before, and I wanted to share with you some of their plentiful group gifts!

Here is the exact SLURL to the group gifts wall; just click the swimsuit panel in the picture below to get a link in local chat, to join their store group for free (you won’t be able to do a keyword search under Groups for “DM” because it’s too short a word). There are group gifts for members of the No Cabide and Second Life Frees & Offers groups, plus a gift box which includes all the previous DM group gifts from 2017, 2018, and 2019! As a freebie fashionista, I absolutely love it when stores are so generous, and make picking up all their previous group gifts so very efficient!

The current group gift from DM is a relative rarity on the grid: a free women’s swimsuit, that actually comes in a size which fits Altamura mesh bodies! (The tops of most swimsuits created for Maitreya Lara bodies tend to fit Altamura bodies well, but the bottom half usually doesn’t fit properly.) This Mona one-piece swimsuit comes with a HUD with six different cheerful patterns as shown. If you have a freebie Altamura body (or one you bought), this is definitely a must-get item!

The Mona swimsuit comes in the following sizes: Altamura; Belleza Venus, Isis, and Freya; eBody Curvy; Legacy Perky; Maitreya Lara; Signature Alice; Slink Hourglass and Physique; and Tonic Curvy, Minim and Fine.

Another DM group gift is the Luana outfit as shown, including a pink, transparent top with a floral pattern, the distressed skinny jeans, and the high-heeled sandals:

This Candy T-shirt dress comes with a HUD with six different slogans:

Here is the Melina jumpsuit outfit, which includes the matching pumps shown. The HUD offers three different colours for both the jumpsuit and the shoes:

The Nanda set consists of a casual maxiskirt and a matching crocheted top. The included HUD gives you five different colours and patterns for each:

There are many other group gifts from DM; this is just a representative sample.

This avatar is also wearing:

  • Mesh Head: the Giselle Bento mesh head by Altamura (no longer available for free; this was an Altamura gift from Christmas 2017 at the eBENTO event, and you had to join the Altamura group for L$50 to get it).
  • Mesh Body: the Jenny Bento mesh body by Altamura (this was a free gift from the 2017 Women Only Hunt, and on this version only, you can remove the head and replace it with any other mesh head, as I did here with the Giselle head. Please note that the Jenny free mesh body is now available at the Freebie Megastore at London City (more information here), but you cannot remove the head on the newer free version.
  • Hair: the Hurrah hairstyle from Ade, a free gift from the 2019 Hair Fair.

TOTAL COST FOR THESE AVATAR LOOKS: Only L$50! (the Altamura group join fee at the time I joined; the Altamura group now costs L$100 to join, but it’s still a good deal as you can pick up all their freebie male and female bodies. as well as obtain group discounts on Altamura products at various shopping events)

Happy freebie shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: How to Get L$600 in Free Store Credit at Bumblebee!

Did you know that you can obtain L$600 worth of free store credit at Bumblebee? Today I will explain, step by step, how to do it.

First, visit the Bumblebee booth at the Second Life 17th Birthday Shop and Hop event (here’s the exact SLURL) before it ends on July 12th, 2020, and click on the panel shown here:

You will receive a folder containing a HUD which you have to attach. Once attached, click on the red button on the bottom left-hand corner of the HUD to receive L$300 in Bumblebee store credit.

Then, teleport over to the Bumblebee main store, and head towards the group join panel, which looks like this:

Click the panel the first time to get a message in chat with a link to join the Bumblebee store group (which is free to join). Once you have joined the group, click the panel a second time to receive a second HUD. Attach the HUD and click the button on it, and you will receive another L$300 in free store credit as a welcome gift!

Most clothing items at Bumblebee cost L$199 each, so L$600 in free store credit lets you pick up three items! (To buy an item using your store credit, just right click on the item and select Menu, then Buy on the blue pop-up window, then Gift Card. You will be asked to confirm your purchase before the amount is deducted from your balance.)

Here my newly-renamed Afro-Canadian avatar Moesha Heartsong is wearing the Xiomara knotted long-sleeve top paired with the Gretel high-waisted suede pants:

(The black Wales pumps were the June group gift from Essenz; there is a L$350 fee to join the Essenz store group. These wonderful pumps come in four different styles and 26 different colours.)

In addition to the free store credit, your membership in the Bumblebee group allows you to play the lucky boards located to the left of the store entrance. There’s usually a small crowd gathered and the letters change over quickly, so you are almost certain to pick up a few more free items!

Here Coupon Clip is wearing three of those lucky board prizes: the Sophie knitted top, with the Cecilia sweater over top, plus the Cecilia rolled-cuff jeans in light blue:

The Jumpov sneakers are a free group gift from VERSOV (exact SLURL); the VERSOV group is free to join, and there are five other group gifts you can pick up there.

Happy freebie shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: the Jackalope Pride Hunt (Plus Free Pridewear for Men and Women from 28LA, and Free Gifts from the SL Pride Festival!)

To celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride, Jackalope is throwing a 50% off sale, and they are also holding a Pride Hunt. The hunt items are free and you do not need to join the Jackalope store group to get the individual hunt items, which all together make up a complete rainbow outfit!

Everything Vanity Fair is wearing in the pictures below—the fishnet crop top, skirt, badges, earrings, bracelet, the wonderful combat boots with rainbow socks, even the Bento pose and the backdrop!—is a hunt prize from the Jackalope Pride Hunt.

One of the free hunt prizes is this wonderful, colourful backdrop! The collection of balloons to the left and right are separate items and you could easily reuse them for other celebrations such as birthday parties:

Now, I should caution you that many of the hunt prizes are rather fiendishly hidden all around the store (including the ceiling!). If you get frustrated, here’s a pro hunt tip from Auntie Ryan 😉 …in the Firestorm viewer, if you press Ctrl-Shift-R, it will turn on wireframe mode (which is essentially X-ray vision). Press Ctrl-Shift-R again to toggle it back off. (If this feels like cheating to you, then don’t use this tip.)

Here’s your taxi to the Jackalope store. The Pride Hunt ends on July 5th, 2020. Happy hunting!

Vanity Fair is also wearing:

This next Pridewear freebie is from a store called 28LA, and it is a doozy! Teleport to the store, and click on the rack of clothing outside, and you will receive a Pride collection of apparel, with designs for for both male and female avatars! The male clothing comes in sizes to fit Belleza Jake and Signature Gianni mesh bodies, and the female clothing is designed to fit the Belleza Freya, Slink Hourglass, and Maitreya Lara mesh bodies.

The Free Pridewear Collection from 28LA

Finally, we have the Pride Festival in Second Life, which runs from June 24th to 28th. Most of the vendor booths at this event have free gifts (you will have to join the free Pride Festival group to get them). Here’s a look at three of the many gifts:

  • this colourful eye makeup from ALMA (system/Bakes on Mesh, plus Catwa, LeLutka and Omega appliers);
  • the Proud Lips by Dotty’s Secret (system/Bakes on Mesh, plus Catwa, Genus and Omega appliers);
  • and the rainbow Dora dress by Le Fil Cassé!

Happy Pride month!
