Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Scandalize

From June 22nd to June 24th Scandalize has removed the L$100 group join fee for their group, as part of their 2nd-anniversary celebrations. Why is this a big deal? Because when you now join the Scandalize group for FREE, you can pick up no less than 88 great group gifts!

Here’s a link to the group: secondlife:///app/group/c6b27443-12c9-083f-efd2-d56dfaf2ec3a/inspect (copy and paste this into the chat window of your Second Life viewer). Or just search for “Scandalize” under the Groups tab in Search.

The group gifts wall is located on the wall behind the main reception desk:

There are 77 gifts on that wall, and when you turn around, there are another 11 free group gifts of jewelry on the counter! (There are actually 13 vendors, but two don’t work.)

So, if you haven’t joined yet, because you are short of Lindens, now is your chance!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Ricielli Hunt Prizes

Two or three times a year, Ricielli offers its shoppers a hunt for very easy-to-find objects in its store. Each hunt prize is either women’s clothing or footwear from the Ricielli collection. These are all uniformly well-designed, beautiful mesh items. You pay only L$15 for each hunt prize you find.

If you go to the Ricielli main store, you can still take part in their Easter hunt. But thanks to Cat Pink and her YouTube channel, I discovered a tucked-away place on the Ricielli sim where you can pick up all the previous hunt prizes, still for L$15 each!

Here’s the SLURL to the location for all the past hunt gifts. Each hunt prize collection has a sign which tells you what is in each package before you buy it:

L$15 each is an absolute steal for such well-designed clothing and shoes! Here Vanity Fair is wearing the green Gigi blazer and undershirt combo with black leather leggings, which are both Halloween 2017 hunt prizes:

Total cost for this outfit (not including shoes) is only L$30!

UPDATED! Second Life Steals, Deals and Freebies: All the Men’s Clothing at Kauna is FREE

Kauna 28 May 2018.png

I couldn’t believe it until I actually got into the sim to check it out for myself. (You’ll probably have to use something like the Teleport Hammer to get in, because the sim is currently jam-packed with avatars picking up all the freebies!)

Kauna menswear store (Flickr photo group) is currently GIVING AWAY ALL THEIR CLOTHING AND SHOES FOR FREE. Yes, that’s right, FREE! We’re talking suits, shirts, vests, sweaters, jackets, socks, shoes and boots, tuxedos and smoking jackets and military tunics, glasses, even beards and moustaches, all mesh, all free. There are both modern and retro styles. There’s even a set of Harry Potter Hogwarts ties and a designer zombie suit!! Everything in the store is free, zilch, zippo, nada, just waiting for you to come in and vacuum it all up!

I should warn you ahead of time that all the mesh clothing comes in three standard sizes (small, medium, and large), and it is not designed specifically for popular male mesh avatar bodies like Signature Gianni or Belleza Jake.

So drop whatever you’re doing and get over here, because I don’t know how long this giveaway is going to last. You’ll have to do your shopping in-world, as Kauna does not have most of these good-quality men’s items on their SL Marketplace store.

Kauna 2 28 May 2018.png

I am loading up the inventories of all my male alts when there’s this big a deal, and I would encourage you to do the same!

UPDATE 6:27 p.m.: In unpacking some of the suits, I have discovered that they do have versions for Slink and The Mesh Project male mesh avatar bodies. So not everything is just in small, medium, and large standard sizes. And the moustaches and beards (which comes in four different styles) are designed specifically to fit the Stanley and Daniel models of Catwa heads.

Here is one of my male alts, wearing the men’s casual suit in black, with black Oxford shoes. The shirt comes in open and closed collar versions, each in tucked and untucked versions. The outfit even comes with black socks! I’m very impressed with the quality of the clothing.

UPDATE May 29th: Well, the huge sale at Kauna has now made the news at both the NessMarket.com blog and the FabFree blog, so you can expect things to continue to be extremely busy at that particular sim! FabFree reports that Kauna is closing and the giveaway is only until the end of this month, so hurry down before it’s all gone!

UPDATE June 1st: Well, apparently the Kauna store is still open after May 31st! I have no idea how long the sale will last though, so you should get down here as soon as you can. A commenter named Kathryn Vayandar, who appears to be a representative for the store, said the following in a comment on the FabFree blogpost:

Thanks for the mention on your blog! 🙂 When I mentioned closing, I was just referring to the special sale, not the store. The special prices are for a very short time only. As far as I know, the store is not closing.

This is an update to my surprisingly popular blogpost about visiting four stores in Second Life and getting 218 items for only L$100.

So, I decided to grab a spare avatar and take it to the extreme, visiting the following six stores, each of which offers a large number of group gifts, and picking up every single one:

  • Sexy Shoppers Freebie Warehouse (63 items; you need to join the Sexy Shoppers group for L$1 to get the freebies here)

UPDATE 11:44 a.m.: A commenter on a cross-post of this blogpost to the Your Second Life group on Facebook told me about another store where you join the group for free, with oodles of freebies! The store is called !Soul, and here is the SLURL.

Soul Gifts 17 May 2018.png

Thank you for the tip, Susan Giroso! There are 88 group gifts here at this location!

That brings the new grand total to SEVEN HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-NINE items for only L$101!

Here’s a look at one of the outfits from !Soul, the Delicate Satin Mesh Dress in a floral pattern, with matching boots (there are seven different patterns available for this outfit).

Second Life Steals, Deals and Freebies: A Newbie Avatar Makeover in Half an Hour, for Only Two Linden Dollars!

Every so often, for fun, I like to create a brand new avatar from scratch, then give myself exactly half an hour to try and see just how well I can give her a makeover. I try to transform her from a starter newbie to a look that is as stylish and non-newbie as possible, taking advantage of any gifts and offers for avatars under 30 days.

I refer to the Under 30 Days list of gifts and offers from the FabFree blog, and let me tell you, there are not nearly as many freebies for newbies as there were in the old days! It’s actually rather sad. Good thing there are all kinds of other steals and deals on the grid!

Today I took the starter Elizabeth avatar, as shown here:

Newbie Ellizabeth 16 May 2018

(*sigh* Those bulbous system avatar ankles…)

And I challenged myself to give her not just one, but two looks: one for daytime, and the other for evening.

Here is the day look (please click on the pictures to see them in a larger size):

My avatar is wearing:

Mesh Head and Mesh Eyes: Kenna mesh head from Genesis Lab (group gift; limited time free group join)

Mesh Body: eBody Classic avatar body (L$1 at the freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil or directly from the eBody store; note that the dollarbie version of this mesh body has only “thick” alpha sections on the HUD, not the finer alpha sections on the full-price version, which means that you have to be somewhat careful what you wear on it)

Hair: Melek fitted mesh hair by Sentinus (free from the Free Dove)

Sweater: Turtleneck Sweater by Coco Designs (free group gift; group is free to join)

Jeans: black Margot jeans by EccentriciXi (free gift for avatars under 30 days; use the provided SLURL to locate the black cubes and click on them to get a very nice starter wardrobe for your avatar!)

Shoes: Classic black pumps by Marquesse (free at the freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil; this shoe comes in four colours; note that the eBody Classic mesh avatar body has Slink-compatible feet)

AO Standing Pose: Female Basic Mocap AO by Vista Animations (L$1; located at the back of the female AO section of the store)

And here is my newbie avatar’s evening look. I took advantage of the free L$500 gift card offer from Kastle Rock Couture to outfit her (you can find the offer at this SLURL, you just click the box on the ground; this offer is only for newbies under 30 days old; please click on the pictures below to see them in a larger size):

My avatar is wearing the same mesh head, eyes, body and AO as before, with these additions…

Choker: Nina Choker by RxK (free from Ajuda SL Brasil; I tried to pick a skin tone for the eBody Classic mesh body to match the Genesis Kenna head as best I could, but there was still a slight seam visible, so the choker covers that)

Gown: pink Monarch strapless gown by Kastle Rock Couture (currently on sale for L$99 in the Kastle Rock Sale Room, which leaves me with another L$401 on the gift certificate to spend on more outfits!)

Shoes: Classic white pumps by Marquesse (free at the freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil; this shoe comes in four colours; note that the eBody Classic mesh avatar body has Slink-compatible feet)

Hair: I decided to keep the Elizabeth starter avatar updo hairstyle (some things just cannot be improved upon!)

And there you have it! The total cost of both outfits was L$2—L$1 for the eBody mesh avatar body and another L$1 for the AO.
