Atlas Hopping with Drax and Strawberry, Episode 26!

The theme of today’s Atlas Hopping event was experiences created by novice creators, mostly using items available from the Sansar Store.

At the Wood Between the Worlds Experience

Today we visited five experiences:

  • Wood Between the Worlds, by Justin Esparza
  • Ai, by Betty Tureaud
  • Bi, by Betty Tureaud (which you can only get to by walking into the giant head on Ai)
  • Ci, by Betty Tureaud (which you can only get to by walking into the cartoon cat on Bi)
  • ECHO, by Jade Serenity (an experience picked at random from the Sansar Atlas by Strawberry and Drax).

I took some pictures of each of the experiences we visited:

Atlas Hopping with Drax and Strawberry, Episode 25!

Well, I haven’t done this kind of post for a long while! Today I joined Draxtor Despres, Strawberry Singh and a merry band of adventurers as we set off for S.L.A.R.P. (which stands for Sansar Live Action Role Play, I believe), Nya Alchemi’s medieval-themed experience. Linden Lab CEO Ebbe Altberg once again joined us, which is becoming a regular thing.

I didn’t take any pictures this time (too busy having fun), but here are links to the YouTube livestreams of today’s event, the first by Strawberry Singh:

And the second by Drax himself:

Scene of the Day: White Out and the Atlas Hopping Scavenger Hunt (Plus Nine Things I Learned)

I have never had so much fun in Sansar! We had well over twenty avatars show up in-world for the first-ever Atlas Hopping Scavenger Hunt. And I learned a few things:

  1. Drax can’t stop talking.
  2. You never appreciate how large a Sansar experience can be until you’re hunting for something small.
  3. Drax can’t stop talking.
  4. Drax has an unhealthy attachment to his German hand puppet.
  5. Drax can’t stop talking.
  6. Dynamic objects can clump together into one big ball when an experience crashes.
  7. Drax can’t stop talking.
  8. Teleporting is much faster than running, but whenever I picked up a scavenger hunt item in my VR headset, I found I couldn’t teleport at the same time.
  9. Did I mention, that DRAX CAN’T STOP TALKING?!??

Here’s Drax’s livestream of the event, which culminated in an exclusive first tour of the new sci-fi Sansar experience, 2077:

And here’s Strawberry’s livestream of the event:

Special Torley-Inspired Scavenger Hunt Edition of Atlas Hopping with Berry and Drax, Saturday, January 6th at 11 a.m. PST

The friendly rivalry between Draxtor Despres (Drax) and Strawberry Singh (Berry) in our weekly Atlas Hopping adventures in Sansar is a long-running joke on the successful series (now up to nineteen episodes; you can see past episodes by Drax and Berry, who each livestream it to YouTube). I have joined them most Saturdays and it’s been great fun to go explore 3 to 5 new experiences each week, bickering along the way!

For the landmark 20th episode of Atlas Hopping, and the first one of 2018, Drax and Berry are taking their rivalry up another notch—with each being the team captain of two Torley-inspired teams (Pink and Green, of course!) in a first-ever Scavenger Hunt!

Here’s a picture of me and Drax in front of the main instruction board located at Debi Baskerville’s wintertime White Out experience, where the Scavenger Hunt will be held on Saturday, January 6th, at 11:00 a.m. Pacific Time/Sansar Time. Meet at our usual meetup place for Atlas Hopping, 114 Harvest, and then we will all head over to White Out!

Ryan and Drax 1

To participate, you must go over to Debi Baskerville’s store and pick up your FREE sweatshirt (male or female). Because you won’t know ahead of time which team you will be assigned to (Green or Pink), you must get BOTH sweatshirts! Going into Lookbook to do a quick change of your wardrobe before the hunt is a simple task to perform.

Show up at our usual starting point for Atlas Hopping, Drax and Ria’s experience 114 Harvest (if you decide to go straight to White Out, that is okay, too, but it would be easier if we all met up at the usual gathering spot to avoid confusion).

If you are planning on joining this event, you will want to load the Sansar client and visit both the 114 Harvest and White Out experiences to have them preloaded in your cache for a smoother experience. You can install the Sansar client, if you don’t already have it, at https://www.sansar.com/download.

If you’d rather watch the fun and chaos unfold instead of participating, go to this link for Drax’s YouTube livestream of the event: LIVE from 114 Harvest: Atlas Hopping Episode 20 [Scavenger Edition] (I assume Strawberry will be livestreaming this event as well; I will provide a link, when I have one, to add her livestream to this blogpost.)

UPDATE 8:10 a.m.: Debi Baskerville raises an important point:

Keep in mind that I will be re-saving White Out just prior to the beginning of Atlas Hopping when I hide all the objects. We don’t want people to be able to come in and find the objects too soon.
So for those wanting to precache the experience, please do so no sooner than 10 minutes before the event begins. Thanks! So excited to play this game with all of you!

Atlas Hopping, Episode 19 (New Year’s Eve Edition)!

Once again, we gathered at Draxtor Despres’ headquarters at 114 Harvest, and then we headed off as a group to visit three different Sansar experiences today:

Strawberry Singh was once again able to join us, and she was wearing a new shirt designed for her by Solas! Very nice! Solas also made the shirt Drax is wearing.

At Valencia, we were able to climb up on the roof of one of Theanine’s curving buildings to get a better look at the surroundings. (We also threw lots of apple pies at each other!)

Here are some pictures of our time spent exploring Ambard’s build, called Amber Castle. I didn’t realize that Ambard is selling his buildings two ways: you can buy his completed buildings from the Store for Sansar dollars, or you can pick up pieces of his Modular Building System for free and arrange them to build your own structures! Here’s a link to his store, called Ambardia.

Atlas Hopping Episode 18 with Strawberry and Drax!

Drax and Berry led us once again on Episode 18 of Atlas Hopping! A large group of avatars visited four different Sansar experiences this week:

This expedition made me realize that perhaps I am hurrying a bit too much when visiting and blogging about experiences. I am in such a hurry to post to the Sansar Newsblog that I’m not getting the entire experience! That’s a lesson for me. I need to slow down and savour these Sansar experiences, so I can see them as the creator intended!

Drax and Berry’s livestreams are very different this week, as they went off to do different things. For example, at the M2D Magic Night experience, Drax went off to an upstairs room in a chalet to interview Theanine one-on-one, so you might want to watch both livestreams this week!

Here’s Drax’s livestream:

And here’s Strawberry’s livestream:

Atlas Hopping, Episode Seventeen

I missed this past Saturday’s Atlas Hopping, because I was at the Second Life Blogger Vlogger Network Christmas party., where I won a bunch of prizes! (I started up a separate WordPress blog for Second Life just as a testbed, for the BVuNiversity blogging/vlogging course I am attending on weekends this December/January.)

As he had last week, Linden Lab CEO Ebbe Altberg once again joined the band of explorers and answered questions. (See the YouTube video livestreams below.)

Berry and Drax visited Stasis Interrupted, Chapter 1 by Tyler Scarborough (and Tyler joined them as a guide). Sorry, just one experience this week!

Here’s Drax’s livestream of the event (warning: there’s some choppy audio in this). Near the beginning, Strawberry recounts the story of the recent take-down request from Linden Lab of her SL tutorial video and its resolution.
