Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Junbug Flash Sale, TODAY ONLY!

Did you know that you can help support my blog (as well as the upcoming Metaverse Newscast show), and get great rewards in return? Here’s how.

Junbug is celebrating its 10th anniversary, and to celebrate, they are throwing a flash sale. Almost every single item in the store—gorgeous gowns and dresses from every historical period and style, from medieval to fantasy to Victorian to modern!—is for sale for only L$10 each! Here are just a few examples:

The Victoria gown in ivory is paired with the Dreamer’s necklace (both just L$10!):

The Day Flower Victorian gown was a gacha prize (all Junbug’s gachas are only L$10 a pull during the flash sale, too!) and the lovely white parasol is also L$10:

And here’s the stunning Meralyn gown in ruby (also L$10):

Junbug 4 8 Dec 2018

The flash sale was supposed to run for only 24 hours, but the sim has been so jam-packed that people can’t get in! So an update was posted to the Junbug group:

Due to demand, Junbug’s Birthday Bash is officially extended until 5pm today (Saturday the 8th). Everything in store is 10L, including gachas!

Any found idling will be ejected because it isn’t fair to those waiting.

Thank you <3

So head down to Junbug before 5:00 p.m. SLT, *TODAY ONLY*! Here’s your taxi! (The sim is extremely busy today, so you might have to use something like the Teleport Hammer to get in. Keep trying!)

P.S. One more thing… Junbug only designs for the Maitreya Lara female mesh body. If you have another type of mesh avatar body, these clothes might not fit properly, although I have found that clothing designed for the Maitreya Lara mesh avatar body tends to fit the Altamura female mesh bodies very well, with a minimum of fuss. In fact, the first three pictures in this blogpost show an avatar in an Altamura Jenny body.

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Nine Blogs You Must Follow!

Have you joined the RyanSchultz.com Discord yet? More details here

FabFree.png

Back in June, I posted about 4 blogs and 4 Flickr groups you should follow for news and pictures of Second Life freebies. The four blogs I originally recommended were:

The first three I check daily; the fourth one I check about once a week, just to see what’s new. I often find some treasure that I have unaccountably overlooked in my travels across the grid! The third one is good because it is an aggregator; it gathers together blogposts from various blogs such as FabFree (but note that not all of the posts in SL Freebies Cheapies Dollarbies Lucky Chairs Hunts are about free items; there’s a mix of free items and deals).

Well, I have found another 5 blogs which are also worth checking out regularly if you are serious about hunting for steals, deals, and freebies in Second Life! Let’s look at them, one by one:

SL Freebie Addiction

SL Freebie Addiction is a blog written by Genna since 2011, entirely devoted to freebies. She very clearly indicates what items are and aren’t free in her detailed styling notes under each picture, and she also indicates whether items are group gifts or hunt gifts.

SL Freebie Addiction.png

0L$ Fashion in Second Life 2

This is a Japanese blogger who posts every day about the freebies she has found all over the grid. Right now she is putting up one post every day showing the advent gifts she was able to pick up on that day. All items pictured include a SLURL to help you find it in-world. Here’s a link to the blog.

Midnight Magpie

Midnight Magpie is another blog which is really covering all the advent calendar goodies right now! Every picture includes full style notes with SLURLs to the stores.

MIdnight Magpie.png

Pure Eggs & Spam

Faithless Babii is a relentless freebie hunter, often churning out two or even three blogposts a day! She covers freebies from all over the grid. Pure Eggs & Spam also covers sale events such as L$35 Saturdays. She seems to have a knack for finding things that other bloggers overlook.

Dancing in the Square

But I saved the very best for last: this blogger, Cherie, is an absolute inspiration to all freebie fashionistas! Cherie pulls together impressive fashion displays, only using freebies and group gifts! She’s fearless, too; she’s not afraid to try a men’s jacket or a men’s pair of shoes on a female avatar if it fits the look she is trying to create. Browse through her blog and you’ll get all kinds of tips on where to find great group gifts and freebies, and how to put them together in true style!

Here are just a few pictures from Dancing in the Square (I really like how she includes a bag of some sort in almost every outfit):

So now you have nine blogs to follow. Spend a few minutes every day to visit them, and you’re certain to find out about the latest and greatest steals, deals, and freebies! Most of these blogs update daily, if not more often.

Oh, and don’t forget to join and follow these six SL groups for even more news about freebies and deals:

  1. Fabulously Free in SL: their group is free to join; here is a list of the gifts you can pick up with that group tag active
  2. Maitreya Gifts, Sales & News: their group is free to join; follow their blog to find out what gifts you can get with this group
  3. Mesh Avatar Appearance Maniacs (MAAM): it costs L$50 to join the MAAM group; here is a list of freebies you can pick up with that group tag active
  4. SL Frees & Offers: their group is free to join; here’s their blog
  5. TeleportHub.com: it costs L$10 to join their group; here is a list of gifts you can get
  6. THIRD LIFE [Frees, Gifts & Hunts]: L$10 to join group; here is their blog

Do you know of a great freebie fashion blog that I have missed? Please leave me a comment if you do, with the name of the blog and the URL, thank you!

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year…”

It’s December 1st, and if you are an avid Second Life freebie fashionista like me, you know what that means: advent calendars! There are dozens of stores who have put up advent calendars. All you have to do is show up each day, click on the correct day on the calendar, et voilà! Free gifts!

This year there are not one, not two, but three different lists of Second Life advent calendars. There’s a fair bit of overlap among the three lists, but each has some unique listings which the other two missed, so do be sure to check them all!

FabFree

The longest-running, biggest, and most organized list is by the Fabulous Free in SL blog:

2018advent.jpg

This list is broken down into four parts:

  • 24 and 25-day advent calendars (no group required, or the group is free to join)
  • 24 and 25-day calendars (with a group fee to join, or a certain cost per gift)
  • 12 Days of Christmas calendars (no group required, or the group is free to join)
  • 12 Days of Christmas calendars (with a group fee to join, or a certain cost per gift)

TeleportHub.com

The TeleportHub.com blog also has a list of advent calendars:

There are two separate lists, one for advent calendars, and another for Twelve Days of Christmas calendars.

NessMarket

Finally, we have a detailed list of advent calendars, sales and events compiled by NessMarket:

NessMarket Advent List.png

This list differs from the previous two in that it includes a few advent hunts.

The sheer number of advent calendars to be found across the grid can be overwhelming! I have visited the advent calendars of the various stores for many years now, and here (in no particular order) is my personal Top Ten list (with SLURLs to take you or point you to the calendar) of what I consider to be the consistently best advent calendars, year after year:

  • 7 Deadly s[K]ins has an advent tree in the back of the first floor of their store, with generous gifts every day from Dec. 1st through to the 31st! You do have to join the group for L$1,000 if you are not already a member.
  • Appliqué Chic always has lovely clothing gifts for women. No group is required.
  • Virtue is another calendar with beautiful clothing gifts for women. The emphasis here is on classic, modest, non-slutty fashion. You do need to join the Virtue group for free.
  • The Annex (women’s clothing; a free group join is required).
  • Emerald Couture has two calendars: one requires you to join their group for free, and the other is for anyone.
  • Firelight (20 female hairstyles, 3 unisex hairstyles and 1 male hairstyle; a free group join is required).
  • Sweet E’s (women’s clothing; a free group join is required).
  • Amazing Creations has 3 advent calendars at the back of their store: one for women, one for men, and one for unisex gifts! You do need to join their group for free to pick up all the gifts every day.
  • Entice has numbered gifts under a Christmas tree instead of a traditional advent calendar. They also have a very handy sign nearby which shows you what the gifts look like! You do have to join the group for free to pick up these advent gifts.
  • Finally, ALB has a long-running advent calendar with fun and funky haute couture for male and female avatars!

Have fun!

UPDATE Dec. 8th: It turns out that you do not have to join the ALB group to participate in their advent calendar, and if you should miss a day, you can pick all of the previous days’ gifts, too! I love it when stores do that 🙂

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Black Friday Bazaar

Did you know that you can support me and my work on this blog? Here’s how.

Evil Bunny Productions has launched a brand new event this year, the Black Friday Bazaar, which runs from November 17th to the 27th. And each store participating in the event has put out a freebie for you to pick up at their booth! These are really nice freebies, too, so I decided to write up a blogpost showing you just a few of the goodies you can snap up. All you need to do is join the Evil Bunny Hunts group in SL for free, and these wonderful gifts are yours!

All the SLURLs in this post will take you directly to the booth, to save you time, but you should really wander around and check out everything for sale at the Black Friday Bazaar!

Here is a beautiful holiday season dress, which is the gift from JLZ Fashion (here’s the SLURL):

This cheerful Christmas sweater is the gift from Jellyroll:

And this sexy peach-coloured Sasha minidress is the gift from Just Ordinary:

These are just three of the dozens of gifts available at the Black Friday Bazaar, but it ends November 27th, so hurry down! Here’s a SLURL to the main entrance.
