UPDATED! Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Advent Calendar Gifts for December 12th, 2020

Here’s my blogpost with links to four lists of Advent Calendars and 12 Days of Christmas Calendars, plus my “Top Ten” Calendars you should not miss in 2020!

Both of the Advent calendars at Wow Skins and Essenz Shoes are completely overloaded, and so far (despite several attempts), I have been unable to collect today’s gifts from them, which is irritating but not unexpected. After all, I am adding to the traffic at these locations with my regular morning roundup of Advent calendar gifts!

Here’s the gift from Entice, a lilac skirt and matching top with some nice lace detailing (the Entice group is free to join):

Today’s gift from Virtue is this lovely yellow dress, which comes with a matching bolero jacket! The Virtue group is free to join.

From Firelight Hair comes the following long, wavy Taya hairstyle, which comes with a HUD with six colour options (the Firelight group is free to join):

And today’s Hope skin gift from 7 Deadly S[k]ins is in the cashew skin tone which, along with yesterday’s caramel skin tone, I quite like! Remember that the 7 Deadly S[k]ins group costs L$1,000 to join during the month of December. By the way, you can purchase previous days’ Advent calendar gifts from the tree-shaped Advent calendar at 7 Deadly S[k]ins for only L$25 each, so if you saw a previous gift of theirs here and are kicking yourself that you happened to miss a day or two, you can still go back and purchase them. I wish more Advent calendars offered this as an option!

The 12 Days of Christmas calendars at some stores start today (in other stores, they start tomorrow). At the Altamura main store, there is a Christmas tree where each day’s gift will be placed. Today’s gift is the following system/Bakes on Mesh outfit, with two different shades of red for the top and eight festive textures for the pants:

The December 12th gift includes the Christmas stilettos shown in these pictures, which come with a HUD with red sequins and five other red, seasonal patterns. These shoes come in sizes to fit Maitreya, Slink, and Altamura mesh feet (although the feet on Altamura bodies are supposed to be Slink compatible, so I’m not really sure why they were included the latter as a separate version).

You will need to join the Altamura Design/Mesh Avatars group to pick up these gifts, but it is currently free to join the group; the normal Altamura group join fee is L$100, so you might want to subscribe now, and stay subscribed if you can afford the group space, since the group will give you access to future Altamura group gifts throughout the year!

Another store with a 12 Days of Christmas calendar that started today (instead of tomorrow, as I had previously reported on the blog), Baby Monkey offers twelve gifts that combine to form a complete colour-coordinated capsule wardrobe! Each piece comes with a mini-HUD with three colours as shown below for the December 12th gift, these Benina pants:

UPDATE 12:29 p.m.: The Advent calendar at Wow Skins is finally working, and I was able to pick up today’s gift, the beautiful Jolie Bakes on Mesh skin in the sandy skin tone (the Wow group costs L$199 to join):

And today’s gift from the Abranimations Advent calendar is this truly wonderful animesh flying carpet! Instead of attaching it, you rezz it to the ground and then sit on it. Here’s a 20-second video of it in action:

I will be loading up a few alts today to pick this beauty up!

UPDATE 1:36 p.m.: O.K., one more fabulous freebie, this time from Loki—this red Santa Claus sweater, which comes in a size to fit Maitreya Lara mesh bodies only. You don’t need to join any group, just teleport in and buy it for L$0!

By the way, these Christmas ball earrings and skirt are free gifts from the 2020 Winter Shop and Hop event, which opened yesterday and runs until January 3rd, 2020 (more details here).

Well, as November winds down, it is time for the dedicated freebie fashionistas to begin planning for December, when many Second Life stores have either an Advent calendar or a Twelve Days of Christmas calendar, with gifts for you to pick up each day!

There are four lists of 2020 Advent calendars published by various websites:

UPDATE Dec. 1st, 2020: I have gone through and checked each of the SLURLs to the stores linked to below, and updated them where necessary. All of them should now take your directly to the store (some have changed location since last year!).

Six Advent Calendars I Will Be Visiting Every Day

  • Firelight Hair has an Advent calendar running from December 1st to 24th (you do need to join the Firelight group for free). The gifts are mostly women’s hairstyles, but there will also be a few male/unisex styles. All hair gifts come with a mini 3-colour HUD.
  • 7 Deadly s[K]ins has an advent tree in their store, with generous gifts every day from Dec. 1st through to the 31st! You do have to join the group; I believe the group join fee is L$125 until the end of November, then it jumps up to L$1,000 during December!
  • Appliqué Chic offers two separate Advent calendars, one for men and a second for women! Each day’s gifts are free, and you can buy gifts from previous days for only L$10 each. No group join is required.
  • Virtue offers an Advent calendar with beautiful clothing gifts for women. The emphasis here is on classic, modest fashion. You do not need to join the Virtue group to pick up these gifts.
  • Entice offers Advent calendar gifts of womenswear from December 1st to 25th (you do have to join the Entice group for free). They also have a very handy sign on either side of their Advent tree, which shows you what each of the gifts look like, so you can plan ahead!
  • Essenz has an advent calendar from December 1st to the 25th, offering gifts of high-quality women’s footwear (the group costs L$350 to join).

Four “Twelve Days of Christmas” Calendars I Will Be Visiting Every Day

Please note that none of these calendars will be set up until mid-December:

  • The Baby Monkey calendar runs from December 12th to the 23rd, 2020 and is free each day. This year, you can pick up all the gifts at once if you prefer to make just one visit, between Dec. 23rd and the end of the year. All the gifts together form a complete, colour-coordinated capsule wardrobe. Even better, you do not need to join a group to pick up the gifts this year!
  • Altamura has a 12 Days of Christmas calendar running from December 12th to 24th, with a different gift every day: male and female accessories, clothes, skins, makeup, even a mesh head! Please note that the group join fee for Altamura is usually L$100, but during December the group is free to join.
  • JUMO usually gives away gifts of women’s apparel and jewelry from Dec. 12th-Dec. 24th, as well as on New Year’s Eve. This is the place to pick up some beautiful ballgowns and costume jewelry!
  • The eBENTO Event has an advent calendar that runs from Dec. 11th to Dec. 25th. Last year, the large red calendar numbers are randomly scattered around the shopping event, with two or three gifts from participating vendors each day. The eBENTO group is free to join.

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Advent Gifts for December 15th

This is just a reminder to all you SL freebie fashionistas out there that there are some wonderful, not-to-be-passed-up gifts available from the various Advent and 12 Days of Christmas calendars out there on the grid. It’s Christmas time, and we are getting all the gifts!

For example, this hairstyle is today’s free Advent calendar gift from Firelight Hair, which comes with a mini-HUD with three shades of red (the calendar requires that you join the Firelight group for free). The Shallie dress is yesterday’s 12 Days of Christmas gift from the tree at Baby Monkey, located next to the entrance (a L$20 group join lets you pick up the current gift, and all the previous days’ gifts, for free). This stylish dress comes with a six-colour HUD: pink, light green, light blue, beige, red and black.

Here are three more gifts from the Baby Monkey 12 Days of Christmas calendar worn by Vanity Fair, which all come with the same six-colour HUD as the Shallie dress above:

  • the Long Tank (appliers for Maitreya, Belleza, Slink and Omega);
  • the Glossy Leggings (appliers for Maitreya, Belleza, Slink and Omega); and
  • the Shallie jacket.

Another 12 Days of Christmas calendar you should absolutely not overlook this season is at JUMO (here’s the direct SLURL). The JUMO calendar does not require any group join. One nice feature of this calendar is that (like the Baby Monkey calendar) you can pick up all the previous days’ gifts as well as the current one! Here is today’s gift, the purple Cameron low-cut blouse and matching long skirt:

Here is the Dec. 14th gift from JUMO, the stunning, shimmering golden Nice ballgown. Nice, indeed!

And here Vanity wears the Dec. 13th JUMO gift, the red-and-silver velvet Holly gown with a long, translucent cape, perfect for that formal holiday party!

Here’s a pro tip: if you want to save travel time, you can always elect to visit both the Baby Monkey and JUMO calendars on Christmas Day and snap up all the gifts from both calendars at one time, rather than teleporting in and out each day.

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: The 12 Days of Christmas Calendar at Baby Monkey

The 12 Days of Christmas calendar starts today at Baby Monkey! Here’s the SLURL to take you directly to the calendar in the store (it’s quite a large store, so you might have to select the saved SLURL from your inventory and use Show on Map, and follow the red arrow).

Every year, Baby Monkey gives away twelve pieces of clothing and footwear to make up a complete colour-coordinated capsule wardrobe. For 2019, each piece of this capsule wardrobe comes in six different colours: pink, light green, light blue, beige, red and black.

Join the Baby Monkey Junkies group for only L$20 and buy each day’s gift for L$1 (your dollar is automatically refunded). If you decide not to join the group, each gift costs L$1, which is not refunded. Pixieplumb Flanagan writes in a notecard sent out to her group members:

The 12 days of Christmas gifts begin on 12th December. I will activate each day as soon as I’m awake – bear in mind I’m in the UK!! Every gift will stay up, and free (pay L$1 and immediate refund with group tag active) until at least the end of the year. Non group members pay L$1 without refund. I’ll be away from 19th to 30th and will NOT be able to get in-world.
