Looking for the 2021 edition? What Advent Calendars and 12 Days of Christmas Calendars I’ll Be Hitting This December (2021 Edition)

Advent and 12 Days of Christmas calendars are a Second Life tradition

Well, as November winds down, it is time for the dedicated freebie fashionistas to begin planning for December, when many Second Life stores have either an Advent calendar or a Twelve Days of Christmas calendar, with gifts for you to pick up each day!

There are four lists of 2020 Advent calendars published by various websites:

UPDATE Dec. 1st, 2020: I have gone through and checked each of the SLURLs to the stores linked to below, and updated them where necessary. All of them should now take your directly to the store (some have changed location since last year!).

Six Advent Calendars I Will Be Visiting Every Day

  • Firelight Hair has an Advent calendar running from December 1st to 24th (you do need to join the Firelight group for free). The gifts are mostly women’s hairstyles, but there will also be a few male/unisex styles. All hair gifts come with a mini 3-colour HUD.
  • 7 Deadly s[K]ins has an advent tree in their store, with generous gifts every day from Dec. 1st through to the 31st! You do have to join the group; I believe the group join fee is L$125 until the end of November, then it jumps up to L$1,000 during December!
  • Appliqué Chic offers two separate Advent calendars, one for men and a second for women! Each day’s gifts are free, and you can buy gifts from previous days for only L$10 each. No group join is required.
  • Virtue offers an Advent calendar with beautiful clothing gifts for women. The emphasis here is on classic, modest fashion. You do not need to join the Virtue group to pick up these gifts.
  • Entice offers Advent calendar gifts of womenswear from December 1st to 25th (you do have to join the Entice group for free). They also have a very handy sign on either side of their Advent tree, which shows you what each of the gifts look like, so you can plan ahead!
  • Essenz has an advent calendar from December 1st to the 25th, offering gifts of high-quality women’s footwear (the group costs L$350 to join).

Four “Twelve Days of Christmas” Calendars I Will Be Visiting Every Day

Please note that none of these calendars will be set up until mid-December:

  • The Baby Monkey calendar runs from December 12th to the 23rd, 2020 and is free each day. This year, you can pick up all the gifts at once if you prefer to make just one visit, between Dec. 23rd and the end of the year. All the gifts together form a complete, colour-coordinated capsule wardrobe. Even better, you do not need to join a group to pick up the gifts this year!
  • Altamura has a 12 Days of Christmas calendar running from December 12th to 24th, with a different gift every day: male and female accessories, clothes, skins, makeup, even a mesh head! Please note that the group join fee for Altamura is usually L$100, but during December the group is free to join.
  • JUMO usually gives away gifts of women’s apparel and jewelry from Dec. 12th-Dec. 24th, as well as on New Year’s Eve. This is the place to pick up some beautiful ballgowns and costume jewelry!
  • The eBENTO Event has an advent calendar that runs from Dec. 11th to Dec. 25th. Last year, the large red calendar numbers are randomly scattered around the shopping event, with two or three gifts from participating vendors each day. The eBENTO group is free to join.

Happy freebie shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Free Advent Calendar Gifts for December 8th

I hope by now that you have gotten yourselves into some sort of regular rhythm, regularly visiting those stores offering Advent Calendar gifts! Here is a selection of today’s gifts from several stores. All the gifts shown here today are free, and all of them (except for Appliqué Chic) require you to join their store group for free to pick up each day’s gift.

One store that always has lovely gifts for female avatars is Virtue. This rich purple dress is the Advent calendar gift for December 8th:

Here we pair two gifts: the belted wool jacket is the Dec. 8th gift from WellMade’s Advent Calendar, and the leggings are part of the Dec. 8th gift from Appliqué Chic. The WellMade jacket comes with a mini-HUD to change the colour of the jacket and the belt separately to one of three shades: white, black, and red, which makes it an essential winter staple for your wardrobe.

The Dec. 8th Advent calendar gift from Firelight Hair is this lovely long hairstyle in three different shades of red:

And finally we have the Dec. 8th gift from Entice, a daringly low-cut midnight blue silk blouse! Please note a search for Entice under Places lands you in a nearby ravine; please use this SLURL instead to teleport directly to the Advent calendar in-store.

If you are looking for suggestions on where to go hunting for Advent calendars, here is my list of recommended places to go and Advent calendar websites to check. Happy shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Presents From the December FaMESHed Event (Plus a Few Advent Calendar Gifts)

The December round of the FaMESHed Event in Second Life is upon us, and once again, most of the vendor booths have beautiful Christmas gifts for us! There is some really lovely stuff, both for your avatar and for your home. You do have to join the FaMESHed group for free to pick up all the presents.

Here Vanity Fair is wearing two gifts from vendors at FaMESHed: the Christmas Deer sweater from Just Because and the Hanna red heels by Phedora. (The blue leggings were part of the Dec. 4th Advent calendar gift from Appliqué Chic, and are still available today for free, but they will be L$10 after today):

The red Joy throw pillow and the neon Santa hat on the wall behind Vanity are also gifts from FaMESHED, by Fancy Decor and EQUAL respectively.

Now we have the Merry plaid blue zipper skirt (part of the same Dec. 4th Appliqué Chic Advent calendar gift as the leggings in the previous picture), plus a lovely cropped sweater, the FaMESHed gift from Giz Seorn:

Here we pair the red cable knit mohair sweater by COCO Designs with the sexy red thigh-high Cate boots by Garbaggio (my favourite shoe store!):

Next we have the Shayla robe in green from Ricielli, which comes in both closed and open versions (obviously, I’m not going to show you the open one!):

The Scandalize gift is the Nairi dress in black with a separate black lace bralette:

The gift from Neve is this lovely outfit consisting of two separate pieces, the top and the matching skirt:

This is the Jane sweater by RIOT (which comes in green as shown and also in red), paired with the Adriana red glitter shorts by Bombshell. (The RIOT gift box also includes Jasper sweaters for the men.)

Next up is the Scarlett bra and panties, the gift from Belle Epoque, shown with the Punta Cana shoes by Essenz, which comes with a HUD to change the colour of the shoes themselves (3 options: grey, blue, and red), the sole (4 options), and the tie around the ankle (18 options):

Here’s a closeup on the shoes, which like everything Essenz sells, is wonderfully crafted, with much attention paid to details!

Finally we have the Cindy dress in mint green by Kaithleen’s, paired with the Dec. 5th Advent calendar gift from Essenz, the sand-coloured Honolulu shoes:

Here’s a closeup of the Honolulu shoes, which are bit too frou-frou for my taste, but they might be perfect for you!

You do need to join the Essenz group for L$350 to pick up their daily Advent calendar gifts, but all are beautifully crafted footwear, and I think that L$350 for 24 quality pairs of shoes and boots is a bargain.

The hair used in all these pictures is the Dec. 5th Advent calendar gift from Firelight Hair, a curly hairstyle called Melvena (you will have to join the Firelight group for free to use this calendar). The hair comes with a 3-colour HUD to change it to brown, black, or red:

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Twisted Spring Hunt

The Twisted series of hunts in Second Life are renowned for being the hardest hunts on the grid, and giving you absolutely no clues to work from, unlike other SL hunts. You’d think a spinning golden cube would be easy to find, right? Wrong. And every time around, I always land up tearing my hair out, searching for those goddamn little cubes anyways! This round has a gold-and-white divine god/goddess theme, so I diligently went hunting in a few stores, and I got lucky this time! Here are Twisted main hunt and side hunt items from three stores:

  • Appliqué Chic (a main hunt and 6 items in a side hunt)
  • Dreaming Thicket (a main hunt and 7 items in a side hunt)
  • Roped Passions (a main hunt and 5 items in a side hunt)

Our first look is the Divine gown (the Twisted Hunt gift for women by Appliqué Chic), paired with the Celestial Necklace and gold Laurel Crown by Dreaming Thicket (two side hunt gifts):

This stunning gown can be worn both for fantasy and formal outings. This avatar is wearing:

  • Mesh Head: Giselle Bento head by Altamura (no longer available for free; this was an Altamura gift from Christmas 2017 at the eBENTO event, and you had to join the Altamura group for L$50 to get it).
  • Mesh Body: Jenny Bento body by Altamura (this was a free gift from the 2017 Women Only Hunt, and on this version, you can remove the head and replace it with any other mesh head, as I did here. Note that this free mesh body is now available at the Freebie Megastore at London City (more information here), but you cannot remove the head on the newer free version.
  • Hair: Jessi hair from Sn@tch (free gift at a past event; no longer available)
  • Wings: white Icon angel wings by Blueberry (Bento enabled; I bought these at the Christmas 2017 Shop and Hop event using the free L$500 giftcard, which is no longer available; however, you can pick these up at the Blueberry mainstore)
  • Gown: Divine gown (main Twisted Hunt prize by Appliqué Chic)
  • Necklace: gold Celestial Necklace (side hunt prize at Dreaming Thicket)
  • Laurel: gold Laurel Crown (side hunt prize at Dreaming Thicket)
  • Shoes (not shown): white flats by Garbaggio (part of the free sample pack for Slink feet; available on the SL Marketplace). Altamura mesh avatar bodies have Slink-compatible feet.
  • Halo and hand and body particle effects: Valkyrie silver halo, aura, and hand effects by Cole’s Corner
  • Sword: from the Marcus avatar (one of the Second Life fantasy starter avatars)

Here’s a second look, featuring several more hunt gifts:

This avatar is wearing:

  • Mesh Head and Body: Giselle Bento head and Jenny body by Altamura (same as above)
  • Hair: Jessi hair from Sn@tch (same as above)
  • Headdress: Divine Warrior headdress (side hunt gift from Roped Passions)
  • Wings: white Icon angel wings by Blueberry (same as above)
  • Dress: Asphodel Chiton dress (main Twisted Hunt women’s gift at Dreaming Thicket)
  • Necklace: gold Celestial Necklace (side hunt prize at Dreaming Thicket)
  • Boots: Thorn boots (side hunt prize at Dreaming Thicket)
  • Shield: Hoplite shield (comes with a defensive pose; side hunt prize at Dreaming Thicket)
  • Spear: Hoplite spear (comes with several poses; side hunt prize at Dreaming Thicket)
