Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: META Basic Mesh Body for Male Avatars

Cat Pink, whose YouTube videos you should follow regularly if you are at all serious about tracking down Second Life deals and freebies, has found yet another inexpensive mesh body for male avatars. It comes from a store called META and it is available on the SL Marketplace for only L$1:

The body is fully adjustable and includes Bento hands and a HUD with a complete set of alpha selections, which means you can get just about any clothing to fit it. Please note that it only comes in the one skin tone, a dark tan. This dollarbie version of the META body is not Omega compatible, but there is an Omega-compatible version for only L$699.

I paired this body with one of the free male Bento mesh heads I picked up from Akeruka, called Leon (remember my tip: join the Akeruka group for only L$150 and monitor the group notices for announcements of future free group gift heads!). The head comes with ten different skin tones, so I picked the closest match and hid the slight seam using a unisex choker from the excellent freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil. Here’s what he looks like:

I especially appreciate the detail on the hands; they are particularly well done! This body is a good choice if you don’t want an overly-muscled look for your male avatar.

This casual outfit is one of the four free male outfits (including shoes) available at the Steamworkz Bathhouse & Resort Gay Beach (here’s a SLURL to take you directly to the spot where you can pick them up). People often overlook LGBTQ spots in Second Life and I have found that they can sometimes be a great source of freebies (you can even pick up a free penis attachment if you’re looking for one, to avoid that “Ken doll” look 😉 ).

This is an excellent addition to my list of free and inexpensive male avatar heads and bodies. You do not need to spend a fortune to have a good-looking avatar in Second Life!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Altamura Clodet Full-Body Female Mesh Avatar

As you might have noticed, I am taking a bit of break over the holidays from blogging, but I did want to mention yet another free full-body female mesh avatar from Altamura, called Clodet. You can pick up Clodet at three vendors located behind the Christmas tree at the Altamura store (just pay the vendor L$1 and it will be refunded):

As with past freebies from Altamura, you cannot remove the head on this one, but with such a beautiful head, you might not mind so much! To my knowledge, Clodet is the first of the free mesh bodies from Altamura to have a blonde hairbase (which you can remove).

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: The Shop and Hop Christmas Mall Is Now Open!

Every year, Second Life hosts a Christmas-time shopping extravaganza called the Shop and Hop. This year’s Shop and Hop runs from Dec. 17th, 2018 to Jan. 4th, 2019, so you have plenty of time to come in, shop the sales, and pick up some fabulous freebies!

The sims are absolutely jam-packed, sim crossings are a nightmare, and the lag is HORRENDOUS (particularly in the Halcyon sim, where everybody and their dog is trying to get into the Blueberry shop, which is giving away a sweater dress fatpack and a L$250 gift card). But it’s still worth the wait and the hassle to get in! Or you can choose to wait until late December/early January when it’s less busy.

Here are pictures of some of the many freebies available at this year’s Shop and Hop! Every store in the 5-sim mall has at least one free gift for shoppers.

First up is a complete fantasy outfit with wings by Lune Bleue/Silvan Moon Designs, paired with Snowy hair by Limerance (which comes with or without snowflakes, in a complete fatpack of ombre tones):

(If you find the skirt to be a little too over-the-top, you can detach it, and the resulting dress still looks great! The matching sleeves are a separate item too.)

Next is the Isa dress in olive, the gift from Valentina E, with the Rowne Jai classic pumps (which come in a fatpack of 15 different colours!) and the Era hairstyle by Analog Dog (another fatpack of colours, shown is just the dark browns HUD):

The flash sale was supposed to run for only 24 hours, but the sim has been so jam-packed that people can’t get in! So an update was posted to the Junbug group:

Due to demand, Junbug’s Birthday Bash is officially extended until 5pm today (Saturday the 8th). Everything in store is 10L, including gachas!

Any found idling will be ejected because it isn’t fair to those waiting.

P.S. One more thing… Junbug only designs for the Maitreya Lara female mesh body. If you have another type of mesh avatar body, these clothes might not fit properly, although I have found that clothing designed for the Maitreya Lara mesh avatar body tends to fit the Altamura female mesh bodies very well, with a minimum of fuss. In fact, the first three pictures in this blogpost show an avatar in an Altamura Jenny body.
