Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: The Spookzilla Hunt

This year’s Spookzilla Hunt (SLURL), with dozens and dozens of Second Life stores participating, takes place from October 25th to 31st, 2019. There’s a row of vendor plaques lined up along one street near the spawn point, where you can pick up each vendor’s hunt key to see what prizes you’re hunting for! Each vendor has a differently coloured and patterned ghost that you are searching for. And some of those ghosts are fiendishly hidden! Set aside a few hours for this hunt.

Please note that this is not a free hunt; hunt prizes vary in price from L$10 to L$25 each. But this year there are also many tables of free gifts from the various vendors scattered throughout the sim, so even if you don’t feel like hunting, pay a visit anyway!

Here is one of the hunt prizes by ANTAYA, the red and black Victorian-era Lamia gown, absolutely perfect for my vampire roleplay avatar!

The lace detail at the neck is particularly lovely!

Here’s all six of the hunt prizes from Baetik, a complete witch’s outfit!

The outfit pictured here consists of five separate hunt prizes:

  • a witch headpiece with horns
  • a matching witch choker
  • witch shoes
  • witch staff (with or without animation and on/off particle effects)
  • a black long witch’s gown with a high collar

There’s also a black crow with a hold animation, too!

This final look is a more traditional witch’s outfit from N.MA, complete with hat and flyable broom! The outfit comes in five separate hunt pieces:

  • Persephone Hat
  • Persephone Dress
  • Persephone Shawl
  • Persephone Broom (ridable!)
  • And a set of HUDs to allow you change the colours of the hat, shawl, dress, dress trim, and various aspects of the waist cincher to any of 20 different colours!

This is easily the most versatile witch outfit you could ever own! Here’s another couple of examples from the thousands of combinations you could create—good witch, bad witch, and everything in between!

The black pumps in the three pictures above are from a free set of women’s classic pumps by Marquesse, available from the excellent freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil on the third floor (here’s the SLURL).

Here the SLURL to the Spookzilla Hunt sim. Happy Halloween hunting!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: A Free Zombie Outfit!

Time for another men’s Halloween outfit! And the best part is, the entire outfit, including the skin, is completely free! The mesh avatar I am using is the Altamura Romeo full-body mesh avatar, which requires a couple of additions to support Bakes on Mesh:

  • A Bakes on Mesh relay for Altamura mesh bodies (which is available for free to Altamura group members at this exact SLURL in the store; please note that this relay only works with full versions of Altamura bodies, including the Romeo body which was a Valentine’s Day group gift earlier this year)
  • You do have to buy and install the Omega system kit on the body before you can use the Altamura Bakes on Mesh relay (it’s for sale for L$99 at this exact SLURL)

Both the entire zombie outfit (including the bloody socks and brogue shoes) and the zombie skin are available for free from the Kauna menswear store (SLURL). Their Designer Zombie suit is just one of many free outfits you get when you click on this vendor panel in their store (be sure to click on the other panels too; everything is free here and there are literally dozens and dozens of menswear items, mostly formal wear and suits, but other men’s clothing, too):

This avatar is wearing:

  • Mesh Head and Body: Romeo mesh body by Altamura (a former Valentine’s Day group gift; Omega-compatible; more details here; the Altamura group costs L$50 to join and the Omega system kit for Altamura mesh bodies is L$99, which is required in order to be able wear a system skin on it)
  • System Skin: Zombie skin by Kauna (part of the Designer Zombie Suit package; I turned off the mesh fingernails on the Altamura Romeo body using the included HUD)
  • Hair: Zombie Ian hair from your existing Second Life inventory, under Library / Initial Outfits / Zombie Ian (Mesh)
  • Eyes: Zombie eyes by Insufferable Dastard (an old hunt gift; this store is no longer on the grid)
  • Outfit: Designer Zombie Suit from Kauna (the suit comes in navy or grey, with a blue or white shirt, plus socks and shoes, and there’s even a bloody handkerchief for your jacket pocket!)
  • Animation Override: Zombie AO by -RC- Cluster (also available for L$100 on the SL Marketplace; it even includes some guts for you to carry!)

TOTAL COST FOR THIS AVATAR: Only L$249!

P.S. If you have a male avatar and you haven’t visited the Kauna store yet, what are you waiting for? All the menswear is high quality and it’s all free! It’s easily one of the best deals in Second Life for men’s clothing.

Second Life Bakes on Mesh: The Old Wizard

  • A Bakes on Mesh relay for Altamura mesh bodies (which is available for free to Altamura group members at this exact SLURL in the store; please note that this relay only works with full versions of Altamura bodies, including the Romeo body which was a Valentine’s Day group gift earlier this year)
  • You do have to buy and install the Omega system kit on the body before you can use the Altamura Bakes on Mesh relay (it’s for sale for L$99 at this exact SLURL)

This avatar is wearing:

  • Mesh Head and Body: Romeo mesh body by Altamura (a former Valentine’s Day group gift; Omega-compatible; more details here; the Altamura group costs L$50 to join)
  • System Skin: KTG Old Man skin by KTG Brand Shop HAKUOU-DO (available on the SL Marketplace for L$250)

  • Hair: Joseph hair in snow white by Alli&Ali Designs
  • Beard: Augustus beard in silver by Bewitched Hair (no longer on the grid)
  • Outfit (Except Hat): Mithrandir outfit from Husky GFX (this is an old system-layers-and-flexiprims outfit from a store that has since left SL)
  • Wizard’s Hat: a wizard’s hat I picked up as part of a treasure hunt prize many years ago at The Arcanum
  • Boots (Not Shown): Trail Boots in black by Brii (free from the men’s clothing section of the excellent freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil)
  • Staff: Staff of Blue Fire from Talevin’s Magic Sky Village, the best place to get staves and wands in Second Life! You can also pick it up for only L$90 from the SL Marketplace.
