Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Advent Calendar Gifts for December 8th, 2020

Here’s my blogpost with links to four lists of Advent Calendars and 12 Days of Christmas Calendars, plus my “Top Ten” Calendars you should not miss in 2020!

Today’s gift from Emerald Couture is the following outfit called Fausta, consisting of two separate pieces, the patterned top and the dark grey skirt (a wardrobe staple!). You need to join the Emerald Couture group to pick this up; the group is free to join.

You could choose to pair the skirt above with the Advent calendar gift from ROA Design, a turtleneck sweater which comes with 2 HUDs with a total of eight different colours and patterns (you do not need to join any group to slap this calendar):

Firelight Hair‘s Advent calendar present is the curly Gabrielle hairstyle, which comes with a 6-colour HUD as shown below (the Firelight group is free to join):

The gift from Virtue is this complete outfit, which includes the shoes! The Virtue group is free to join.

The generous gift from 7 Deadly S[k]ins is a set of Diem skins, which come in a package of seven Omega appliers in the following darker skin tones: cashew, chestnut, fudge, maple, pecan, taupe, and walnut. (The group join fee for 7 Deadly S[k]ins is L$1,000. As usual, there is also a men’s skin in today’s gift box.)

7 Deadly S[k]ins Diem skin in fudge (the darkest skin tone of the seven included in the package), shown here on the Altamura Juliet mesh full-body avatar

Alli & Ali Hair‘s Advent gift is this Terri hairstyle in snow white, seen here on my angel avatar. By the way, I am still looking for someone to whom I may bequeath this avatar via my will; if you are interested, please contact me! Just be aware that I plan to live a long and happy life; I figure I still have a good quarter-century left in me 😉

In the same package, there’s also a men’s hairstyle in snow white that would work quite well with older gentlemen, perhaps even a wizard? 😉 All you have to do is teleport into the store and slap one (or both!) of the blue signs shown here:

(And yes, this avatar is also available via my list of avatars for whom I am still seeking good second homes in the event of my death. More details and pictures of my wizard avatar can be found here. I am currently working with a lawyer to draw up my will, and if you are even remotely interested in inheriting one of these avatars, please contact me. Thanks, and I hope you don’t think this is too morbid; I am just trying to assert some control in the middle of a coronavirus pandemic, to lessen my anxiety! Please understand that doing this helps me find some peace of mind in these trying times.)

Finally, Essenz is offering you these beautiful burgundy Beirut pumps, which come with a HUD to select one of 4 different sole colours and four different metals for the chain. This is sure to add the perfect finishing touch to your seasonal partywear!

The pumps are only L$50 if you are not a member of the Essenz group, or pay the L$350 group join fee to pick up all of the Advent Calendar gifts from Essenz, plus a fatpack of the versatile Wales pumps.

Happy freebie shopping! Remember, these gifs are only available today, December 8th!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Advent Calendar Gifts for December 3rd, 2020

Here’s my blogpost with links to four lists of Advent Calendars and 12 Days of Christmas Calendars, plus my “Top Ten” Calendars you should not miss in 2020!

Hoo boy, do I have a lot of gifts to show you today! So let’s get started. Remember, these Advent calendar gifts are only available today, December 3rd. Snooze, ya lose! So, let’s get started…and please note, unless I say otherwise, you do need to join the store group to pick up the following gifts (and, unless I state otherwise below, that store group will be free to join, so if you are short on group space like I am, you can join the group and then leave it).

Today’s gift from Firelight Hair is the long Clarissa hairstyle, which comes with a mini-HUD with 3 blonde colours as shown:

Virtue‘s Advent Calendar today gives you this lovely peach-and-white floral blouse and matching long skirt, which can be worn separately:

Here’s the gift from Wow Skins (group join fee is L$199). The Sharon skin includes Bakes on Mesh body skin, and is designed for LeLutka mesh heads, but as you can see, it works well on the LOGO Chelsea head I am wearing in this picture!

Here’s the December 3rd group gift from 7 Deadly S[k]ins (group join fee is L$1,000). Today you also receive the Hope Bakes on Mesh skin with lipstick as shown below, plus a male skin, plus a fatpack of the Miss Behave Omega skin appliers!

The gift from Essenz (L$50 for non-members, or pay the L$350 group join fee to pick up all of the Advent Calendar gifts, plus a fatpack of the versatile Wales pumps) is called Guayadil, which comes in sizes to fit Maitreya, Belleza, and Legacy feet:

A large pink notice on the floor in front of the Advent calendar at Vagrant states:

So here’s a look at two of the gifts, from December 1st (the Camila earrings, which come with a HUD to select one of seven metals) and December 3rd (the Aurora floral wreath includes a HUD which allows you to tint the three different sets of the roses separately, either to match or differ, and also includes optional Christmas lights!).

Tucked in behind the Christmas tree at the Vagrant store are a whole whack of group gifts (the group is free to join, so be sure to scoop them up, too!).

Here’s the present from Emerald Couture for December 3rd, the Krista minidress in a plum-coloured snowflake pattern, perfect for your next holiday party!

Pink Mango offers up another minidress in blue suede:

The Advent calendar gift from Justice is this fern green Misty dress (which also comes in an ombre colour):

In addition to the gifts I have pictured here, there is a also a set of four unisex dances from Abranimations, a black puffed-jacket-and-T-shirt combo for men and women from ML Designs, and a pair of black sweatpants for male avatars from Fashion Fantasy (please use one of the Advent calendar lists in this blogpost to find the SLURLs).

Happy freebie shopping!

P.S. If you are in the market for an Ugly Christmas Sweater™, for only L$1 you can pick up the following red sweater from Xtra Ordinari (warning: adult sim), which comes in versions to fit a wide variety of both male and female mesh bodies:

And today’s Advent calendar gift from Entice is an absolutely HIDEOUS ugly Christmas sweater for women in purple and teal. I won’t show it to you here, you have to go over to Entice and see it for yourself. I have to give the designer credit, though…you have to truly work at it to come up with something so horrible!

UPDATED! Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: What Christmas Trees and Advent Calendars I’ll Be Hitting on Christmas Eve/Christmas Day

There are various locations within Second Life where generous content creators have placed free Christmas gifts under the tree:

  • FaMESHed Event: You can join the FaMESH ed group for free to pick up the gifts under this Christmas tree. As a bonus, there’s also a wheeled cart off to the side where you can still pick up an assortment of gifts from a recent autumn round of FaMESHed!
  • The Dubai Event has an assortment of gifts under their Christmas tree (including a particularly nice blue and gold ballgown by Virtual Diva, for Maitreya Lara mesh bodies only).
  • The Free Dove has gifts under a large Christmas tree, located to the right as you enter the freebie store. You do need to join The Free Dove group for free.
  • The Swank Event has quite a few gifts under their tree outside, but also many more scattered around outside in the snow! So wander around and see what you can find. No group is required.
  • Epiphany has some lovely gifts under a Christmas tree in the centre of the event. No group is required.
  • At the Man Cave event, the “tree” is a stack of green beer bottles, and the “gifts” are beercans with red ribbons standing underneath it! There are over 30 gifts here, all for male avatars.
  • The VERSUS event has five gifts at the landing point, including ice skates, roller skates, and a jetski, and there are many other gifts which are located in Christmas stockings at the various vendor booths. You must join the VERSUS group for free to get these gifts, including the Estephania full-body female mesh avatar by Altamura, which previously was a gift in the SL Frees & Offers Hunt. (UPDATE: Although this was a free group join when I first visited, the organizers have since raised the group join fee to L$50.)
  • The Très Chic event has a pile of presents under the Christmas tree outside, plus gifts at some of the vendor booths inside. Join the Très Chic group for free to get these Christmas gifts.
  • As in past years, the Cosmopolitan event has gifts in over 30 Christmas stockings hung on the large Christmas tree at the entrance. You do have to join the Cosmopolitan group for free to get these gifts.
  • UPDATE Dec. 23rd: I just found out that all the gifts under the Christmas Tree at Sn@tch will be FREE on Christmas Day!
  • UPDATE Dec. 25th: Fallen Gods has a wonderful assortment of gifts under their Christmas tree! No group is required.

Most of the advent calendars and 12 Days of Christmas calendars operated by in-world stores in Second Life require you to show up each day to get the advent gift for that date. Sometimes, you may be able to purchase previous days’ gifts for a small fee. But there are a few calendars which allow you to pick up today’s gift, plus all the previous days’ gifts, for free or a small group join fee. Here’s a list of locations where I intend to visit sometime on Dec. 24th or 25th to pick up all the gifts at one time!

  • ALB Dream Fashion & ShuShu has an advent calendar where you can pick up most (not all) of the previous days’ gifts. No group is required.
  • At ML Fashion, you can not only get all the gifts at once on their Advent Calendar on Christmas Day, you can also pick up their Peace on Earth Hunt prize, which is tucked away at the very top of their Christmas-tree-shaped calendar! No group is required.
  • Both Emerald Couture (women’s wear) and Emerald Man (menswear by the same designer) have not one, but two Advent calendars: one requires you to join their respective groups (for free) and you can only pick up gifts on the appropriate date, but each store also has a second Advent calendar which does not require a group, and you can pick up all the previous days’ gifts for free! (Use the provided SLURLs to find the exact locations of the no-group-required Advent calendars; they are in a different location than the “regular” Advent calendars.)
  • JUMO has a 12 Days of Christmas calendar where you pick up all the gifts at once. Remember to come back on New Year’s Eve for a final gift! All gifts are free and do not require a group membership.
  • And, last but not least, Altamura lets you pick up all their 12 Days of Christmas gifts under their Christmas tree at one time! You do have to join the Altamura Design/Mesh Avatars group for L$25 to get these gifts, which include the Omega-compatible Leila Bento mesh head for female avatars, and a nice set of Omega skin appliers, in all the Altamura skintones, to use with that head! And apparently, they will also put out a male Bento mesh head as an Advent gift well sometime in the coming days. Altamura often has group specials and gifts throughout the year, so it’s well worth it to spend the L$25 to join their group now, and stay subscribed (usually, the join fee for the Altamura Design/Mesh Avatars group is L$50).
  • UPDATE Dec. 25th: Surprise! Firelight Hair has made all the previous days’ Advent gifts available for free (you do need to join the Firelight group for free).

So, there you have it! Play your cards right on Christmas Day, and in one series of teleports around the grid, you can pick up dozens and dozens of Christmas presents for free or next-to-nothing! Happy freebie shopping!
