Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: A List of Stores with a Free Group Join this Black Friday Weekend

I hope that you have been taking advantage of the multitude of Black Friday/Cyber Monday weekend sales in Second Life! Here’s my blogpost with all the lists of stores having such sales, plus a few significant deals which should probably take advantage of with respect to mesh heads and bodies (LeLutka, Kalhene, Legacy, Belleza, and Maitreya).

One aspect of the Black Friday sales which I have overlooked is that many stores have made their store groups free to join, for a very limited time (this weekend only). For example, both ALB and 7 Deadly S[k]ins are allowing you to join their store groups for FREE this weekend, and both will have Advent calendars with oodles of free group gifts! The name of the ALB store group is called LAMU GROUP, and the new store group for 7 Deadly S[k]ins is called SEVEN – [7DS].

The following list of store SLURLs was compiled by my friend and colleague Caroline Walker of the Freebie Queens SL Discord (which you should join, if you haven’t already!). Many if not most of these stores also have group gifts you can pick up. And, of course, you’re all set to collect any free group gifts these stores offer in future!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Dotty’s Secret Lost Makeup Hunt

Dotty’s Secret, SL’s premiere drag queen makeup store, recently sent out an announcement to their group and on their blog:

In these difficult times, many of us are quarantined at home, bored and worried about what the future holds… It’s the perfect time for us to spread some love, and, hopefully, entertain you a little <3 This is why we are starting a mini-hunt in our Mainstore, with 6 fabulous gifts up for grab. 

And since the good things don’t have to stop there, our group is now free to join, and with the group tag, you can enjoy a 25% discount store-wide on top of joining the family!

You are looking for six different pieces of makeup hidden all around the store. If you need help, there is a handy hunt hints panel located at the top of the stairs:

Miss Drag (my drag queen avatar, complete styling credits here) will now model three of the hunt prizes. This is the Sass makeup set, which includes the eyelashes you see here:

Next up we have two hunt prizes: the Drag 101 eyeshadow and eyebrows set, combined with the Decadence lipstick, which comes in four different shades. Both would work well for non-drag use, too!

And, best of all, you can join the Dotty’s Secret group for free, and pick up eight fabulous gifts from their group gift wall!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Free Skin Appliers from Essences for Catwa, Lelutka, and Genus Project Bento Mesh Heads

I picked up this news from the Pure Eggs & Spam freebie blog: did you know that you can pick up free skin appliers for your Catwa, Lelutka, and Genus Project Bento mesh heads from Essences?

Just teleport here to get to the Essences store in-world. At the entrance, click on the wall (as indicated by the red arrow) to join the Essences Updates group for free:

Across from this wall are three panels (the Dakota skin applier for Genus Project mesh heads works perfectly with that free Strong Face Bento mesh head gift you picked up from the Genus Project store or group notices!):

If you own a Lelutka Bento mesh head, pick up the Waleria skin applier, and if you have a Catwa Bento mesh head, you can snap up the Sibyl skin applier. The appliers come in eight different skin tones, ranging from light to dark.

Then, head to the very back of the store where you can pick up matching NewGen skin appliers for your mesh body (Maitreya, Belleza, Legacy or Omega):

Here I used the darkest skin tone of the Dakota skin applier on the freebie Strong Face head from the Genus Project, paired with the Juliet body from Altamura (a free group gift from Valentine’s Day 2019; I picked up the Omega system kit for Altamura, which is available for L$99 at this exact SLURL in the Omega Solutions store):

I used the brows and shape that came with the Dakota skin applier (I found she was a bit too thin, so I had to beef up her upper and lower body muscles). Each of the eight skin tones comes with options of light, dark, or no eyebrows (so you can apply your own). Here’s a close-up shot:

(I also made the lips a little thinner, and did a few other minor edits to the sliders for the mouth, using the included Dakota shape as my starting point. The mesh eyes are part of the Strong Face head group gift package, and they are beautiful.)

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: 7 Deadly s[K]ins Free Group Join, Today Only!

One of Ryan’s eight rules for freebie hunting in Second Life is to watch carefully for free group join periods, and take advantage of them!

For example, I just found out that today is the last day to join the 7 Deadly s[K]ins group for free. Normally, the group join fee is a steep L$1,000, so this is an opportunity you should not pass up!

In addition to monthly group gifts, 7 Deadly s[K]ins has an absolutely amazing Christmas calendar of free group gifts, every day from Dec. 1st to Dec. 31st! You must be a group member to get all the freebies, though.

7 Deadly s[K]ins is one of those irritating store names that you cannot seem to do a keyword search for using the Search feature of your SL client software, though, so the best way to join the group is to teleport to the in-world store, and click on this Group Join button on the sign behind the front counter at the entrance:

Another group that is offering a time-limited free group join period during this Black Friday sales period is CAROL G., an avatar tattoo store. (You have until Nov. 30th to join that particular group.)
