Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: The Peace on Earth Hunt

The 12th annual Peace on Earth Hunt runs from Dec. 1st to 31st, 2019. The hunt prizes are completely free, and you do not have to join any group to participate. You are looking for tiny spheres that look like our planet Earth.

Here is just a sample of the hunt prizes available. First we have a winter hoodie from Mara’s Mysteries, which comes in both male and female sizes, with a 10-colour HUD:

Next is the POE hunt prize from AlaFolie, a lovely multicolour hippie skirt and floral top:

Finally, there is the hunt gift from Wilson’s Designs, a rich red ballgown with a snowflake detail on the waist:

There are 70 stores taking part in the Peace on Earth Hunt. Here is a list of the hunt hints to help you find these and many other treasures! Happy hunting!

UPDATED! Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Polar Bear Hunt at Scandalize, Beyond, and LSR Moda

From now until Nov. 30th, 2019, there is a polar bear hunt at three stores in Second Life, which requires you to join each store group (for free) to pick up the hunt prizes:

  • Scandalize
  • Beyond
  • LSR Moda

As Scandalize normally charges you L$100 to join their group (and I assume the other groups do as well), this is your golden opportunity to join for free, and pick up lots of free gifts!

Here are just a few of the dozens of polar bear hunt prizes from Scandalize. This is the Sherry top and skirt in white:

Here is the Deryne top matched with the Dexi leggings with built-in heels:

Next up is the Amberle dress in purple:

Vanity looks sharp in this peppy pink Kya romper!

The Amande set in aqua consists of a top and matching skirt and belt:

Here Vanity is wearing the Aurora top and shorts in gold:

The Caiti jumpsuit features bare shoulders and extensive lacing:

Here are the Lydia top and shorts in pink:

The Anashara outfit in aqua consists of a jumpsuit with a separate chain belt, and a matching jacket:

Now this is the Erikeha outfit, consisting of three separate pieces: top, shorts, and tied shirt:

The Christy romper in orange has lovely lace detailing:

Here I pair two hunt prizes: the Kleine lilac top and the matching Kleine ruffled skirt:

Here Vanity models the Senuna leggings and top in green:

And finally we have the Scarlett gown in black (which also comes in a shiny version and the ombre version shown here):

And keep in mind that this is just one of the three participating stores! So get out there, join those store groups while they are free, and look for the polar bears; they are all quite easy to find! (Note that the polar bears in the LSR Moda store are smaller and harder to find.)

Don’t forget, after you join the Scandalize group, to pick up all the group gifts on their group gift wall! Scandalize has the biggest selection of group gifts of any store on the grid, so be sure and take advantage of their generosity! Remember, the hunt ends tomorrow, Nov. 30th!

UPDATE 7:13 p.m.: I sent out Coupon Clip to pick up all the freebies at Beyond and LSR Moda, and model them for you!

And finally we have the Nancy lingerie in pink:

These are just some of the many prizes available for free. I counted and there are almost 70 gifts in total between all three stores! So drop whatever you’re doing, and come on down and do some hunting, before they all disappear on December 1st!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Sonatta Morales

Did you know that you can help support my work on this blog (as well as the Metaverse Newscast show), and get some great rewards in return? Here’s how.

I don’t usually bother writing up a Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies blogpost for just one item, but I am making an exception for this beautiful ballgown:

Sonatta Morales is a women’s clothing store which specializes in fashion from the 1920s, 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. This gown is the free group gift by Sonatta Morales to celebrate their 11th anniversary, and the group is free to join!

This avatar is wearing:

  • Mesh Head and Body: Altamura Estephania (a former free hunt gift from Altamura; no longer available for free)
  • Gown: Eleven gown by Sonatta Morales (free group gift; group is free to join)
  • Jewelry: Arthuriana gold pearls necklace and earrings (a former free Advent calendar gift from JUMO)
  • Shoes (Not Shown): nude flats (part of a free sample pack of Slink-compatible shoes from Garbaggio, available on the SL Marketplace; Altamura mesh bodies have Slink-compatible feet)
  • Hair: the hair is the Pulled Back Bun (black) from the Library / Accessories / Hair Design Options / Pulled Back Bun folder in your existing Second Lofe inventory—free, adjustable, tintable, uncomplicated.
  • Animation Override: Tuty’s Southern Belle & Woman in Ballgown Bento AO—hands down, the very best AO for ballgowns with voluminous skirts! I have not yet found another one that can compare to it. You can buy it from Tuty’s store in-world or from the SL Marketplace for L$650.

TOTAL COST FOR THIS AVATAR: L$650 (for the animation override)

UPDATED! Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Monthly Midnight Madness

One of things I love about a mature, fully-evolved virtual world like Second Life is that I am constantly surprised and delighted at discovering a store on the grid that I hadn’t heard of before, or finding an event that I previously knew absolutely nothing about.

And such is the case with Monthly Midnight Madness, an event I learned about only through a recent video by SL vlogger Cassie Middles:

How Monthly Midnight Madness works is simple: participating stores will have a free item (limited to the first 1,500 avatars who slap the board), one released at midnight Pacific Time/Second Life Time (SLT), and another one released at noon SLT, twelve hours later. The purpose is to bring foot traffic into the stores (in much the same way as traditional Midnight Madness boards do), and I think it’s a great idea.

There are a couple of stipulations before you can pick up your freebies, however. First, you must join the Monthly Midnight Madness group for free. Second, your Avatar Rendering Complexity (ARC) has to be below 25,000 for you get into the stores taking part in this event, to reduce lag for everybody.

But once you have taken care of those two items, you are away to the races! Here’s one example of the lovely freebies available at midnight SLT at the Monthly Midnight Madness event, a turtleneck dress in a bold floral pattern courtesy of Belle Epoque, one of my favourite Second Life womenswear stores. The Alessandra dress comes in only one size, to fit the Maitreya Lara mesh body, but as you can see, it fits well on the Altamura Juliet mesh avatar I am wearing! (I have found that most clothing designed for the Maitreya Lara body fits Altamura mesh bodies with a minimum of fuss, although you might need to use the included alpha HUD to alpha out parts of your body like the arms and pelvis as I have done here.)

This avatar is wearing:

  • Mesh Head and Body: Juliet by Altamura (former Valentine’s Day group gift; the Altamura group costs L$50 to join; Omega compatible with the separate Omega system kit)
  • Omega Skin Applier: Flower by 7 Deadly S[k]ins (a box of Omega skin appliers was the June 2019 group gift)
  • Hair: Kelsa by Firelight (a free Advent Calendar gift from last Christmas)
  • Dress: Alessandra dress by Belle Epoque (free gift from the Monthly Midnight Madness; group is free to join)
  • Shoes: part of a free set of women’s classic pumps by Marquesse, available from the excellent freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil on the third floor (here’s the SLURL)

TOTAL COST FOR THIS AVATAR: Only L$149! (L$50 to join the Altamura group and L$99 for the Altamura Omega system kit, which is available at this exact SLURL).

UPDATE 2:28 p.m.: The noon SLT freebie from Belle Epoque is this beautiful Alessandra coat in orange, which fits perfectly over the earlier Alessandra dress gift:

Here is a complete list of midnight and noon freebies available at the November 2019 round of the Monthly Midnight Madness event. Happy freebie shopping!
