Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: UniHispana Crea

I’ve already written about what I think are the four best freebie stores in Second Life:

  • The Free Dove
  • The excellent freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil
  • The Free*Style Store
  • The Sexy Shoppers Freebie Market

But I neglected to mention a small but growing collection of freebies at UniHispana Crea, a Spanish-speaking hub for newcomers to SL.

At this SLURL, you can pick up the Altamura Max full-body mesh male avatar and the Altamura Emanuelle full-body mesh female avatar for free:

And, in addition, there is an large assortment of clothing specifically designed for Altamura female mesh bodies nearby, courtesy of Casual Collection by C&N. It can be hard to find free clothes for Altamura, so this set of freebies is especially appreciated!

Here are three of examples of outfits from C&N, which include the shoes, modeled on the Altamura Emanuelle avatar (the hair is a free group gift from D!va Hair):

This is a lovely summer dress by C&N, which I have paired with the Sonnet pumps available for free from Hilly Haalan (more info here):

At this SLURL is a small collection of menswear. Here I am modeling the Axel suit and dress shoes on the Altamura Max avatar:

And here is a more casual outfit cobbled together from the two free casual outfits available, which includes both the sunglasses and the boots:

Right across from the small menswear collection are a number of freebies for women. Here I am modeling items on the Tina Bento Mesh Avatar, which is available for free from the freebie store at Ajuda SL Brasil (for more details, see the very end of this long blogpost about free and inexpensive mesh heads and bodies for female avatars). The hair is the free, tintable Zura style from Hitogata on the counter at this SLURL.

Here is a lovely backless black dress, from the front and the rear:

And here is the Amanda red minidress:

So, although it is a small collection of freebies, it is still worth popping in for a visit and a browse! Happy shopping!

Every year, Second Life hosts a Christmas-time shopping extravaganza called the Shop and Hop. This year’s Shop and Hop runs from Dec. 17th, 2018 to Jan. 4th, 2019, so you have plenty of time to come in, shop the sales, and pick up some fabulous freebies!

The sims are absolutely jam-packed, sim crossings are a nightmare, and the lag is HORRENDOUS (particularly in the Halcyon sim, where everybody and their dog is trying to get into the Blueberry shop, which is giving away a sweater dress fatpack and a L$250 gift card). But it’s still worth the wait and the hassle to get in! Or you can choose to wait until late December/early January when it’s less busy.

Here are pictures of some of the many freebies available at this year’s Shop and Hop! Every store in the 5-sim mall has at least one free gift for shoppers.

First up is a complete fantasy outfit with wings by Lune Bleue/Silvan Moon Designs, paired with Snowy hair by Limerance (which comes with or without snowflakes, in a complete fatpack of ombre tones):

(If you find the skirt to be a little too over-the-top, you can detach it, and the resulting dress still looks great! The matching sleeves are a separate item too.)

Next is the Isa dress in olive, the gift from Valentina E, with the Rowne Jai classic pumps (which come in a fatpack of 15 different colours!) and the Era hairstyle by Analog Dog (another fatpack of colours, shown is just the dark browns HUD):

Here’s a close-up of the hair (Analog Dog has particularly nicely textured flexiprim hairstyles):

And here’s a close-up of the pumps, which could become a wardrobe staple:

This is the Blueberry gift, a low-cut sweater dress, which comes in both a tight version and a looser version, with a dizzying choice of colours in the included HUD (and it even includes the panties!):

Next up is a wonderfully detailed black maxi corset from Atreum, paired with a stylish Homberg hat by ICONIC:

Finally, we have another three Shop and Hop gifts shown together in one look: the cheeky “Sorry, Santa” red dress by Envious, paired with the fun Orra hairstyle by Elikatira, plus these awesome Clelia platform shoes from Phedora, which come with a 22-colour HUD:

You can even tint each of the inside, sole, base and front of the shoe separately!

And that’s just a small sample of what you can pick up FOR FREE at the Shop and Hop! If you want to see even more of the freebies from this event, longtime Second Life blogger Chic Aeon presents a completely different selection of Shop and Hop gifts in the latest post on her blog, Chic at Phil’s Place.

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Nine Blogs You Must Follow!

Have you joined the RyanSchultz.com Discord yet? More details here

FabFree.png

Back in June, I posted about 4 blogs and 4 Flickr groups you should follow for news and pictures of Second Life freebies. The four blogs I originally recommended were:

The first three I check daily; the fourth one I check about once a week, just to see what’s new. I often find some treasure that I have unaccountably overlooked in my travels across the grid! The third one is good because it is an aggregator; it gathers together blogposts from various blogs such as FabFree (but note that not all of the posts in SL Freebies Cheapies Dollarbies Lucky Chairs Hunts are about free items; there’s a mix of free items and deals).

Well, I have found another 5 blogs which are also worth checking out regularly if you are serious about hunting for steals, deals, and freebies in Second Life! Let’s look at them, one by one:

SL Freebie Addiction

SL Freebie Addiction is a blog written by Genna since 2011, entirely devoted to freebies. She very clearly indicates what items are and aren’t free in her detailed styling notes under each picture, and she also indicates whether items are group gifts or hunt gifts.

0L$ Fashion in Second Life 2

This is a Japanese blogger who posts every day about the freebies she has found all over the grid. Right now she is putting up one post every day showing the advent gifts she was able to pick up on that day. All items pictured include a SLURL to help you find it in-world. Here’s a link to the blog.

Midnight Magpie

Midnight Magpie is another blog which is really covering all the advent calendar goodies right now! Every picture includes full style notes with SLURLs to the stores.

MIdnight Magpie.png

Pure Eggs & Spam

Faithless Babii is a relentless freebie hunter, often churning out two or even three blogposts a day! She covers freebies from all over the grid. Pure Eggs & Spam also covers sale events such as L$35 Saturdays. She seems to have a knack for finding things that other bloggers overlook.

Dancing in the Square

But I saved the very best for last: this blogger, Cherie, is an absolute inspiration to all freebie fashionistas! Cherie pulls together impressive fashion displays, only using freebies and group gifts! She’s fearless, too; she’s not afraid to try a men’s jacket or a men’s pair of shoes on a female avatar if it fits the look she is trying to create. Browse through her blog and you’ll get all kinds of tips on where to find great group gifts and freebies, and how to put them together in true style!

Here are just a few pictures from Dancing in the Square (I really like how she includes a bag of some sort in almost every outfit):

So now you have nine blogs to follow. Spend a few minutes every day to visit them, and you’re certain to find out about the latest and greatest steals, deals, and freebies! Most of these blogs update daily, if not more often.

Oh, and don’t forget to join and follow these six SL groups for even more news about freebies and deals:

  1. Fabulously Free in SL: their group is free to join; here is a list of the gifts you can pick up with that group tag active
  2. Maitreya Gifts, Sales & News: their group is free to join; follow their blog to find out what gifts you can get with this group
  3. Mesh Avatar Appearance Maniacs (MAAM): it costs L$50 to join the MAAM group; here is a list of freebies you can pick up with that group tag active
  4. SL Frees & Offers: their group is free to join; here’s their blog
  5. TeleportHub.com: it costs L$10 to join their group; here is a list of gifts you can get
  6. THIRD LIFE [Frees, Gifts & Hunts]: L$10 to join group; here is their blog

Do you know of a great freebie fashion blog that I have missed? Please leave me a comment if you do, with the name of the blog and the URL, thank you!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Baiastice Group Gifts

Hallowe’en is fast approaching, and I wanted to alert you all to a wonderful new group gift from Baiastice. The gift includes both the dress and the cape (which includes the hair under the hood). This avatar is wearing:

Mesh Head and Lipstick: Giselle Bento head by Altamura (no longer available for free; this was an Altamura gift from last Christmas at the eBENTO event, and you had to join the Altamura group for L$50 to get it).

Mesh Body: Jenny Bento body by Altamura (this was a free gift last Christmas from the Women Only Hunt, and on this version, you can remove the head and replace it with any other mesh head, as I did here. Note that this free mesh body is now available at the Freebie Megastore at London City (more information here), but you cannot remove the head on the newer free version.

Eyes: brown Dream eyes by YS&YS (free gift from a previous Second Life shopping event; no longer available)

Dress, Hooded Cape and Hair: Absinthe outfit in gold from Baiastice (free group gift; the group join fee is L$50).

Gold Leaf Choker: Another free group gift from Baiastice, it comes in three metals: gold, silver, and copper

Boots: Tessa thigh-high boots, a lucky chair prize from MODA; the HUD gives you 34 colour choices for the boots; enter the main store in front of you at the spawn point, and go around into the back room where the four lucky chairs are located, or just use your map and follow the red arrow from the provided SLURL.

Animated Staff: Staff of Stars by Talevin’s Magic Sky Village (L$100), simply the best place to get your magical staves and wands! They have dozens of models to choose from, and you can even pick up a free staff walking animation to add to your AO! You have a choice of ten different coloured particle effects with this particular staff, or you can turn the particle effect off completely.

TOTAL COST FOR THIS AVATAR: L$200 (L$50 for the Altamura group join fee, L$50 for the Baiastice group join fee, and L$100 for the staff)

Note: Beginning with this blogpost, and going forward, I will tag fashion posts with the prefix of the social VR platform or virtual world that it comes from, e.g. “Second Life Fashion”, “Second Life Dresses”, “Second Life Jewelry”, etc. I have not been doing this up until now, and since I now cover avatar fashion from so many different worlds, the tagging I have used until now has become kind of useless if you are only interested in one world (e.g. Sansar). Unfortunately, this is such a big change that I cannot go back and apply the new tags retroactively. I hope you understand, thanks!
