Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Three L$1 Gowns from Higgle

I heard that Higgle was having a L$1 sale on the SL Marketplace, so I took a peek at their store on the SL Marketplace, and landed up buying three gorgeous dollarbie gowns!

Gown #1: Classic

This is the simple but elegant Dress Gown Black, which comes with an optional flexiprim jacket:

Gown #2: Romantic

The romantic Niellys dress in a soft pink colour consists of an applier top and a matching mesh skirt with optional flexiprims:

Gown #3: Dramatic

And if you are looking to turn heads, look no further than this stunning mesh gown, the Dress Dreams Charms in red! This is truly a gown that makes a statement. Something with such a wide, sweeping skirt would be completely impractical in real life, but you can certainly rock this look at your next big function in Second Life!

This beautiful golden Nefert choker in the bottom picture is a free group gift from Poison Rouge at the current round of the Très Chic shopping event (you can join the Très Chic group for free). Note that this choker is also a simple but elegant fix if you happen to have an avatar with a slight skin tone mismatch between the head and body!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: The EarthStones Halloween Trick or Treat Mystery Hunt

Every year for Halloween, the EarthStones jewelry store (SLURL) hosts an annual Trick or Treat Mystery Hunt, where you can pick up some great deals on jewelry for both men and women. I must warn you that this is a challenging but rewarding hunt, with some beautifully-made jewelry as prizes. You are looking for Trick or Treat bags: orange bags contain prizes for the ladies, and purple ones contain both male and female items. Prizes are not transferable, so be careful!

There are 24 hunt prizes in all, hidden in various places anywhere on the EarthBound sim where the EarthStones store is located, both inside the store and outside in the surrounding landscape! (Please note that this is not a free hunt; only four of the hunt prizes are free, and the rest cost L$50, L$75, or L$99, which is still a significant savings over EarthStones’ regular prices.)

I am going to tell you the bag numbers for each of the items I am showing you, so that if you are only interested in that particular set, you can focus your hunt for just those items. I am not going to tell you where they are; I am just giving you the bag numbers to make it a little easier for you!. I rationalize this decision by thinking that this blogpost might drive more traffic—and profit—to the EarthStones store owner Abraxxa Anatine, who richly deserves it for her beautiful work.

I know that this takes a bit of the mystery out of a Mystery Hunt, but I absolutely hate spending Linden dollars on items without knowing what I am getting! I’m sure you do too, which is also why I am doing this. But I do make an exception for the annual Halloween hunt at EarthStones, because I know from previous years’ hunts that all the prizes are very high quality items. And all the other bags will still remain a mystery! A few of the items (ones not shown here) are Halloween-themed.

First up is the simplest—a pair of black diamond stud earrings and a matching black diamond solitaire necklace (two separate prizes, bags 20 and 21):

Next is the beautiful Lakshmi jewelry set in lapis (the earrings, necklace, and bracelets for both left and right arms, are all separate hunt prizes, bags 2, 8, and 14; there is a HUD to change the metals to bronze or silver):

Here are the Kanza earrings and necklace in red jasper (two separate hunt prizes, bags 9 and 16):

These are the Simply Put earrings and necklace in moldavite (two prizes, bags 10 and 22):

And finally, we have the gorgeous Glass Drop necklace and matching earrings in sapphire (again, two separate prizes, bags 4 and 11):

Happy Halloween hunting!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: On9 Event Gifts

The On9 Event in Second Life is celebrating its birthday this month, but you’re the one who receives all the gifts! Most of the vendor booths at the event have a gift box available for you to pick up. All the gifts are free, and you do not need to join any group to get them!

Let’s start with this lovely Free Soul minidress by ArisarisB&W (at this exact SLURL). The dress includes a HUD with six different textures, including this beautiful floral design:

Here’s a closer look at the Norah earrings and necklace by Moondance Boutique (at this exact SLURL), another free gift which comes with a HUD to change the metal textures and the colour of the various gemstones to match just about any outfit:

The giftbox at CM Belles Mode (at this exact SLURL) contains the Bailee blue dress with lace trim on the skirt, and a pair of matching blue shoes:

This next look is the pink glitter Loren jumpsuit by TO.KISKI (at this exact SLURL), paired with the Alexandria soft pink shoes from Heels (at this SLURL). Please click on each picture below to see it in a larger size:

And that’s just five of the numerous free gifts that are available, but this round of the On9 Event ends on Sept. 30th, so hurry on down!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: SL16B Shopping Event

As part of the 16th anniversary celebrations in Second Life, there is a five-sim shopping event with discounts. Every participating store has put out a free gift for visitors.

Here’s a pro tip: rather than brave the lag and the crowds just to pick up every gift, only to take it all home and have to unpack the whole lot, watch Naria Panthar’s one-hour YouTube video where she methodically unpacks and shows you the gifts on each of the five shopping sims. Trust me, it will probably take you a lot longer than one hour to do it yourself, so just watch this video, take notes on which stores you want to hit on which sims, and save yourself time and frustration! Thank you, Naria!

Here are a few of the gifts I especially liked. All links provide SLURLs which should take you directly to the item at the event.

First up is the Willow Spirit dress by Silvan Moon Designs, paired with the moonstone and pearl Ferris earrings and necklace from EarthStones:

This is the Youthquake 1960s-era minidress with a Peter Pan collar by Fashionably Dead. This retro dress comes in black, ivory, navy, pink, and red, both in a floral pattern as shown, or in plain colours.

Here is the Pride tank top, a free gift from Blueberry (which comes in dry, half wet, and full wet versions), with the fun and funky Candy Rainbow June pumps by Garbaggio (one of my favourite shoe designers):

Don’t forget that at the Blueberry booth at the SL16B shopping event you can also pick up L$250 worth of free in-store credits to spend at the Blueberry store! Also, Addams is giving away L$300 in in-store credit if you go to their mainstore and click on the sign near the entrance. Both Blueberry and Addams require you to join their groups (for free) in order to pick up these credits, and both stores also offer numerous free group gifts, so it’s really a no-brainer to join these two groups.

Happy shopping! The event runs until July 8th, so you still have plenty of time to scoop up the bargains.
