Loki Eliot’s Videos: Sansar Postcards

Given the current state of affairs at Sansar, I think it is important to document the many wonderful, beautiful worlds that designers and creators have built on the social VR platform over the past three years.

Longtime Sansar resident Loki Eliot (also well known from Second Life) has created a series of short videos in a series he calls Sansar Postcards, which he has been sharing on his Twitter feed. Because Twitter feeds tend to be somewhat ephemeral, and Loki does not have a YouTube account, I asked his permission to upload and share some of his Sansar Postcards with you here on my blog. Thank you, Loki!

The link below each video is the Sansar Atlas webpage for that world, in case you wish to visit and explore for yourself. I hope that this will inspire you to visit Sansar and discover more marvelous worlds!

If this whets your appetite for exploration, may I make a few suggestions of other Sansar worlds to visit? (The list of worlds in that link is from June, 2018, so a few may no longer be available on the in-world Codex directory.)

If you need some help getting started with Sansar (which does not require a VR headset to enjoy), here are some step-by-step instructions for newbies I put together last year (although it is also a bit out of date).

Sansar Pick of the Day (Again): 2077 by C3rb3rus

I have already profiled C3rb3rus’ urban noir science fiction experience 2077 as my Sansar Pick of the Day, here and here. But I revisited it today at our regular Saturday Atlas Hopping, and I was so impressed by what C3rb3rus has added to the experience that I am making it my Pick of the Day again!

At the spawn point is a new Holomap, which gives an overview of all the locations within the sprawling sim. And C3rb3rus has even scripted it to include little red figures to indicate where all the avatars are located in 2077 in real time!

When you arrive at the spawn point for this experience, turn around and go downstairs into the subway station (C3rb3rus has added some fun, futuristic advertising there). Get on the subway train when it arrives and ride it until the next station, then get off and come back up to street level. You will have arrived at a large opulent club called Palladium, complete with a DJ booth, and an extensive aquarium built into the walls, complete with animated schools of fish, and even sharks swimming around!

With all these wonderful, inventive new additions, 2077 is a joy to explore. Even if you’ve visited before, it’s definitely worth another visit!

And C3rb3rus has hired DJ Puddles to perform for us today (Saturday, February 2nd) at 2:30 pm Pacific time, so come join us! We’re starting the party off with a street rave on the main street, and then moving over to the Palladium club. Here’s a Sansar Altas link to 2077.

Sansar Atlas Hopping, Episode 41: We Go Clubbing!

Today, our theme for Atlas Hopping was clubs and clubbing. We visited the following five experiences:

Pick of the Day and Outfit Outlay: 2077

C3rb3rus, the grand prize winner of the Sansar Scariest experience contest last year, has completely outdone his previous work with the stunning achievement called simply 2077. Never have I been in any VR experience that feels so much like the world of the classic sci-fi movie Blade Runner!

I was actually able to get an early preview of this wonderful new Sansar experience, when I took most of these pictures. I added several more photos taken when Drax and C3rb3rus conducted an exclusive first tour of 2077.

You actually spawn in the subway station, where a subway train that C3rb3rus showed us how he made takes you on a ride in a circle. Gindipple was the first one who stepped into the train, complaining (as usual) about not being able to sit down, and then, suddenly, whoosh! It took off like a bullet! And he was gone! It was never so peaceful 😉 and even better, Torley Linden got video:

One of the funniest moments of the whole tour!

C3rb3rus led us up to street level, and then down again into a funky underground club. Here you can see Drax interviewing Strawberry Singh:

The attention to detail of the entire experience is absolutely astounding.

To match the experience, I decided to style Vanity Fair in a suitable sci-fi outfit:

Vanity Fair is wearing:

  • the dragon blue animated skin by AnuAmun (S$10)
  • the flowers and copper armour top by AnuAmun (S$150)
  • the short bob hair by Snow (tinted blue to match; FREE)
  • and I don’t remember where I got the goggles from! I checked my purchase history and I have no record of buying them. I believe they were already in my inventory as one of the basic avatar attachment objects, which everybody got by default.
