Pick of the Day: Abby’s & Monkey’s Things

Abby’s & Monkey’s Things is Sansar’s first coffee shop. Set in a clearing surrounded by trees, it’s a small, inviting rustic structure. Abby's and Monkey's Things 14 August 2017

You stroll inside, and you are greeted by the strains of an old-time tune, When The Mockingbirds Are Singing in the Wildwood, by Frank C. Stanley. The tables are set with various sorts of food, and apple-shaped chalkboard menus adorn the walls.

Pick of the Day: The Abandon Complex

Today my Pick of the Day is The Abandon Complex, by Sansar user Ravioli, who describes it as “old school fps inspired experience” (fps stands for first-person shooter, a kind of videogame centered around weapons-based combat in a first-person perspective). Doom and Quake are considered classic first-person shooter games. Ravioli says, “I used the old school method of making levels with Quake to start with Sansar as well with one of my experiences.” The experience has a wonderful retro feel to it.

Pick of the Day: Digital Arts Gallery

Virtual worlds are a natural showcase for art, and successful art gallery exhibits have already been staged in such social virtual reality worlds as VRChat. This video was taken while I was in my Oculus Rift headset and walking around in the Sansar experience Digital Arts Gallery, created by Mad Max. The works of a number of esteemed digital artists are represented: Adam Martinakis, Zoran Cvetkovik and Zdravko Girov, Martina Stipan, Grégoire A. Meyer, Natalie Shau, Ben Heine, and Keith Webber Jr. There is also a small exhibit of psychedelic 1960s record album art and even some Rolling Stones art!

This is a very enjoyable experience and I urge you to visit for yourself and experience some great art. Then go visit the artists’ web sites using the links in this blogpost!

My Pick of the Day is Diminished 9th, a Sansar experience created by Dimi. Diminished 9th has an outer space theme, complete with tumbling asteroids and gigantic planets, all set to an appropriately atmospheric soundtrack.
