Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: More Gifts from the Stay at Home Club

I thought it was time to give an update on the many new gifts that are available from The Stay at Home Club website. In almost two months, so many stores have decided to participate in the project that the website is simply groaning with high-quality freebies! I showed you some gifts already, but it’s high time to show you some more!

The website now breaks down all the dozens and dozens of free gifts into seven broad categories:

I think the spirit of this whole enterprise can best be summed up by Pink Pearl (SLURL), who placed the following heart-warming sign in her store:

The gift from Pink Pearl is this cute pink workout set, which includes the top, matching shorts, and sneakers which you can wear with or without socks. The socks come in short and long lengths. On this Altamura Juliet avatar, I am wearing the Maitreya top and the Slink shorts, socks, and sneakers (Altamura bodies have Slink-compatible feet):

You’re all set for your next virtual treadmill!

Some stores, such as Versaci (SLURL), have been extremely generous with their Stay at Home Club gifts!

Here is the Beckie hair, a gift from Versaci (which comes in a fatpack of colours), paired with the Stay at Home gift from 7 Deadly S[k]ins, the beautiful Akyla skin, which comes in both Bakes on Mesh and as an Omega skin applier:

Another store that is generous with Stay at Home gifts is AlaFolie (which has moved, here’s the new SLURL), which now has four different Stay at Home Club gifts in their store!

Here’s the lovely Manon dress by AlaFolie, which comes in two patterns as shown, and even includes matching Omega applier panties!

This fun yellow-and-aqua-blue Pineapple dress, another Stay at Home Club gift from AlaFolie, is also a keeper!

There are quite a few gifts for male avatars, too! Here is the raglan V-neck T-shirt by ikr! (SLURL), which comes in a variety of sizes to fit most male mesh bodies (including the EX MAXCHINA Davide body shown here), in four different coffee-themed patterns:

In fact, I am so impressed by all the freebies available via The Stay at Home Club website, that I have now added it to Ryan’s All-In-One Guide to Freebies in Second Life, where I condense all the freebie fashionista advice I dispense on this blog into a single handy blogpost with my top tips to style your Second Life avatar while spending as few Linden dollars as possible!

Happy freebie shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: 7 Deadly s[K]ins Free Group Join, Today Only!

One of Ryan’s eight rules for freebie hunting in Second Life is to watch carefully for free group join periods, and take advantage of them!

For example, I just found out that today is the last day to join the 7 Deadly s[K]ins group for free. Normally, the group join fee is a steep L$1,000, so this is an opportunity you should not pass up!

In addition to monthly group gifts, 7 Deadly s[K]ins has an absolutely amazing Christmas calendar of free group gifts, every day from Dec. 1st to Dec. 31st! You must be a group member to get all the freebies, though.

7 Deadly s[K]ins is one of those irritating store names that you cannot seem to do a keyword search for using the Search feature of your SL client software, though, so the best way to join the group is to teleport to the in-world store, and click on this Group Join button on the sign behind the front counter at the entrance:

Another group that is offering a time-limited free group join period during this Black Friday sales period is CAROL G., an avatar tattoo store. (You have until Nov. 30th to join that particular group.)

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: NO CABIDE and Suna Design

In just two stops, you can pick up no less than 22 free outfits! Now that’s what I call really efficient freebie shopping 😉

The first stop is the NO CABIDE affiliate store on the Boulevard Illuminati. Just click on the box on the front counter to receive 12 free outfits! There’s no need to join any group.

The second stop is the Suna Design store, where you can pick up one gift at the front entrance, and another nine gift boxes behind the staircase (you will have to join the Suna Design group for free in order to get these free group gifts):

So, let’s take a look at some of the items in our haul. First up is the beautiful white-and-gold Ariel full-length ballgown from Suna Design, which features an attractive golden butterfly cut-out design on the back:

(The jewelry used here is the Arthurina gold pearl earrings and necklace, one of last year’s Advent calendar gifts from JUMO.)

Another Suna Design gift is the Nora dress, which includes the pumps:

A third gift from Suna Design is this daring Diana outfit, which includes the open jacket, jeans and boots. (Personally, I would probably wear this with an applier-based top of some kind under the jacket.)

Here is the Happy outfit by NO CABIDE, which includes the shoes. The outfit comes with a HUD to individually change the colour of the top, miniskirt and shoes to red, black, or white:

The graffiti-adorned Izzie Outfit by NO CABIDE includes the funky high-heeled sneakers:

And finally, we have the No CABIDE Jayne dress, which comes with a HUD to select 10 different colours and patterns for the dress, and 10 different colours for the straps:

This avatar is also wearing:

  • Mesh Head, Makeup and Mesh Body: Juliet by Altamura (former Valentine’s Day group gift; Omega compatible with the separate Omega system kit)
  • Omega Skin Applier: Flower by 7 Deadly S[k]ins (a box of Omega skin appliers was the June group gift)
  • Hair: Aria hair by D!va (free group gift; group is free to join)

Happy shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Elegance in Green

*sigh*

I am not having a good day. While trying to clear some space on my hard drive, I accidentally deleted the contents of the Downloads folder on my home computer. Fortunately, I was able to salvage an important document I was working on, but all the screen captures I made for this blog over the past two years are gone. I feel like such an idiot. And to compound the stupidity, I went and bought a rather expensive undelete program that didn’t really recover anything I had lost. All the image files it “recovered” were corrupted and unusable. So that was CDN$100 down the drain. Remember, kids: backups, backups, BACKUPS.

Anyways, to make myself feel a little better, I decided to spend some time on one of my favourite hobbies: pulling together an elegant Second Life avatar look for next to nothing.

This avatar is wearing:

  • Mesh Head and Body: Juliet by Altamura (former Valentine’s Day group gift; Omega compatible with the separate Omega system kit)
  • Omega Skin Applier: Ritual by 7 Deadly S[k]ins (a box of Omega skin appliers was the June group gift)
  • Hair: No_Key by no.match (previous group gift)
  • Mesh Eyes: Vanity Eyes in sage green by MILA (free gift at the current round of the Vanity Event)
  • Jewelry: Ophira by Lazuri (free, from the Free Dove at this exact SLURL)
  • Gown: Snow dress in green by Kaithleen’s (former St. Patrick’s Day hunt gift)
  • Shoes (not shown): Sonnet pumps from Hilly Haalan (free group gift; group is free to join; they come with a 20-colour HUD to match just about any outfit)
  • Animation Override: Chubby Girl AO by [ImpEle] (free from the SL Marketplace). This is a nice, simple, calm, free AO with no crazy movements.

MY TOTAL COST FOR THIS AVATAR: L$149 (I paid L$50 to join the Altamura group, and L$99 for the Omega system kit for Altamura available at this exact SLURL. I had joined the 7 Deadly S[k]ins group during one of their free group join periods in the past.)

All pictures taken at Frank’s Jazz Club.
