UPDATED! Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Free Male and Female Mesh Full-Body Avatars from Altamura!

UPDATE Sept. 28th: For a current, up-to-date list of free or inexpensive options for mesh avatar heads and bodies for female Second Life avatars, please see this blogpost. For a current, up-to-date list of options for free and inexpensive male mesh avatar heads and bodies, please see this blogpost

Late last year, Altamura very generously gave the Jenny full-body mesh avatar as a free hunt prize in the Women Only Hunt, and the Robert full-body mesh avatar as a free hunt prize for the Men Only Hunt. Altamura has also given out free male (Max) and female (Valentina) mesh bodies at the freebie stores at Ajuda SL Brasil and Unihispana Crea. These are beautifully designed mesh avatar bodies, equal in quality to the much pricier versions available.

Well, the Men Only Hunt and Women Only Hunt are on once again, and this time around, there’s both a male mesh avatar head and body package (Tommy) and a female mesh avatar head and body package (Emanuelle) as FREE hunt prizes!

To get the Tommy full-body mesh avatar, you have to find a black moustache. To get the Emanuelle full-body mesh avatar, you are looking for half a coconut. The hunt officially starts tomorrow, August 4th and runs until August 18th, but I was able to find both hunt prizes already today, Friday, August 3rd.

You don’t need to join a group to get the hunt prizes, but if you do get the Emanuelle female mesh avatar body, there’s also a free set of lipstick appliers, just for it. Just click the panel you see in the picture above the Emanuelle display (you’ll have to join the Altamura Design/Mesh Avatars group for L$50 to get the lipstick appliers).

As I have said before, I have found that clothing designed for the Maitreya Lara mesh avatar body fits the Altamura female body very well, with a minimum of fuss. Also, the Altamura female mesh bodies have Slink-compatible feet, so any shoe designed for Slink feet should work well (the female mesh body gift comes in three foot heights, selectable via HUD: flat, medium, and high). The bodies have Bento hands, and (in a nice touch) Altamura has included a hand AO which cycles natural hand positions, which you can use with your regular (non-Bento) AO. Both bodies also come with a facial AO.

Both Tommy and Emanuelle come with a HUD which allows you a complete set of alpha selections to make any clothes look good. However, you should know that, on the male Tommy avatar, you will not be able to remove the attached head to replace it with another head. However, on the female Emanuelle body, you can remove the head, eyelashes, teeth, and hair and use a different head with the body (like, say, that beautiful new Maia Bento mesh head you picked up for free from Akeruka). Also note that Omega skin appliers will not work with these hunt prize bodies. You are stuck with the single skin tone they have.

Here are a couple of shots of the Emanuelle mesh avatar body so you can see what it looks like (please click on each picture to see it full size):

Here’s the SLURL to take you to the new location of the Altamura store (note that the store has recently moved). If you haven’t bought a mesh avatar body yet because of the cost, this is your perfect opportunity to give it a try, for free! Happy hunting!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Altamura Mesh Heads and Bodies for Male and Female Avatars at the eBento Event

UPDATE Sept. 28th: For a current, up-to-date list of free or inexpensive options for mesh avatar heads and bodies for female Second Life avatars, please see this blogpost. For a current, up-to-date list of free options for free and inexpensive male mesh avatar heads and bodies, please see this blogpost

Altamura often has special deals for mesh avatar heads and bodies at various Second Life shopping events, and the current round of the eBento event is no exception. This time, Altamura is offering the same great deal for both male and female avatars: a Bento mesh head for only L$350, and a Bento mesh body for only L$500!

These items are all Omega compatible, so you can use Omega skin appliers with them. I have found that the Altamura female mesh bodies work very well with clothing designed for Maitreya Lara mesh bodies, so clothing should not be a problem.

You do have to join the Altamura Design/Mesh Avatars group for L$50 in order to get these bargains. I would suggest that you join the group and stay subscribed, because Altamura offers these sorts of deals regularly.

UPDATED! Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: The Afrodite Female Mesh Body by LUCYBODY

UPDATE Nov. 4th: It has been reported to me that the Afrodite mesh body is no longer available as a Midnight Madness gift at the LUCYSHOES/LUCYBODY mainstore, and I can confirm this. It costs L$1,000 now. Thank you, LittleMe Jewell!

For a current, up-to-date list of free or inexpensive options for mesh avatar heads and bodies for female Second Life avatars, please see this blogpost. For a current, up-to-date list of free and inexpensive options for male mesh avatar heads and bodies, please see this blogpost

Here’s another freebie tip that I picked up from Cat Pink, whose YouTube videos about freebies and hunts in Second Life are often quite informative. Did you know that you can pick up a beautiful, full Bento mesh body for female avatars, with 256 possible skin tones, a complete set of nail lengths and colours, and a complete set of detailed alpha cuts, for FREE? All you need is a group space and a little patience.

Teleport to the LUCYSHOES/LUCYBODY store, enter the store, and take the fourth aisle to the left, after the wall marked GIFTS:

There’s a Midnight Madness board. Join the LUCYSHOES/LUCYBODY group for free (there’s a group join board right next to it), and then touch the Midnight Madness board to register yourself.

Afrodite Body for Free 29 May 2018.png

Once the board gets 100 hits, everyone gets a free, fully-featured Afrodite body by LUCYBODY.  After 100 hits, the board resets to zero. I was very lucky and I hit the board when it was at 99, and I got my Afrodite body within a couple of hours!

I was expecting this to be a disaster, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was easy to use and looked good on my avatar! The Afrodite body has a few nice features that you won’t find on other freebie/dollarbie female mesh avatar bodies, like the free Altamura Valentina or the dollarbie eBody Classic/Curvy models available at Ajuda SL Brasil. With the addition of the LUCYBODY Afrodite, there are now three options for female mesh avatar bodies for those without the Linden dollars to spend on more expensive mesh bodies! More choice is always good.

Like the eBody models, it comes in a variety of skintones, but with a bonus feature: the HUD has 8 basic skintones, each of which you can adjust using 32 tint panels to give you a total of 256 available skin colours! The nails HUD has 7 options for nail length and 24 colours and patterns built right into the HUD. The Afrodite body has Bento fingers (like the Altamura Valentina, but unlike the eBody dollarbie versions) and the detail on the hands is actually quite lovely.

Afrodite 4 29 May 2018.png

One thing I like about the Afrodite LUCYBODY is that it has the most detailed alpha selections of any mesh avatar body I have ever seen! You can basically wear just about anything with this body and make it work with all these alpha cuts! In the picture below my avatar is wearing a dress designed for Maitreya Lara by Maci (a group gift; the group is free to join), and it fit with a minimum of fuss. I like that!

Here’s another picture of the avatar in a sharper light. I am also wearing the Lulu Bento mesh head by Akeruka, and to hide the slight seam between head and body, I am wearing the Nina choker by RxK, a free gift from Ajuda SL Brasil. The feet are Slink-compatible, so any shoe created for Slink feet will work with this mesh body (you might just have to adjust the foot size for the best fit; they recommend 32.)
