Second LIFE Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Gifts from the October Round of the SWANK Event

The October round of the SWANK shopping event is upon us, and there are literally hundreds of gifts for you to pick up! You’ll need to join the SWANK group for free to get all the gifts.

Here’s what you are looking for (it might be larger or smaller, and “hidden” as part of other Halloween decorations, depending on the vendor booth):

The SWANK shopping event is one of the big ones, sprawling across an entire sim! Here’s the promo video for the October round (they call it a pumpkin “hunt”, but the pumpkins are in plain sight in almost all cases—it’s hardly a hunt in my books!).

Once again, I am trotting out Second Life supermodel Vanity Fair to model some of the gifts which I particularly liked. (My main male alt, Heath Homewood, will do the honours for the menswear gifts.) Because it’s such a large event, I have included exact SLURLs for all the gifts I mention in this blogpost, to save you time.

This starry black Wicca dress is a gift from Zoom (SLURL); the top and skirt are two separate pieces, so you can mix and match! This comes in sizes to fit Maitreya Lara, Slink Hourglass, and Belleza Freya mesh bodies.

From the Firelight booth comes this curly Natalie hairstyle, which comes with a 3-colour mini-HUD as shown:

GGVG’s present is this simple, elegant black Bella ballgown, which comes with the ruby brooch and earrings shown. This gown comes in sizes to fit Maitreya Lara; Slink Physique and Hourglass; and Belleza Freya, Isis and Venus bodies.

This cute cropped sweater from COSMOS comes in two colours, red and grey, and in a multitude of sizes: Maitreya Lara; Altamura; Belleza Freya, Venus, and Isis; Slink Physique and Hourglass; and the Meshbody Classic/TMP and Legacy.

The gift from the Park Place Casuals booth is this sassy Attitude T-shirt, which comes in the following sizes: Maitreya Lara; Belleza Venus and Freya; Slink Physique and Hourglass; Tonic Curvy and Fine; Voluptuous; Ocacin; three fitmesh sizes (S, M, L); and three classic sizes (S, M, L; an alpha is included).

One of three gifts from Hawker’s House is this Mia top and matching skirt in caramel. This outfit comes in the following sizes: Maitreya Lara; Belleza Freya and Venus; Slink Physique and Hourglass; Tonic Fine and Curvy; Ocacin; Voluptuous; three fitmesh sizes (S, M, L); and three classic sizes (S, M, L).

You can snap up two different colours of this sequined Shelly party dress for free at two different locations at the SWANK shopping event: seafoam blue (as shown below), or purple. Sizes include Maitreya, Belleza (Freya, Isis, Venus), and Slink (Hourglass and Physique). These dresses are courtesy of the WILD store.

There are three men’s gifts available from the Hawker’s House booth! The first gift consists of two separate pieces, this olive overshirt/T-shirt combo and the blue jeans, which come in Belleza Jake, Signature Gianni, Slink, and fitmesh/classic sizes:

Heath is wearing both the second and third Hawker’s House menswear gifts in the following picture: the Barton sweater and jeans (the outfit is all in one piece, in sizes to fit Belleza Jake, Slink, and Meshbody Classic/TMP bodies, plus fitmesh and classic sizes), paired with the Trailblazer boots (which come in one unrigged size; you’ll need to alpha out your feet to wear these).

And the men’s gift from 69 Park Avenue is a generous fatpack of these casual shirts, which come in eight different colours and patterns as shown:

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Gifts from the First Anniversary of the Orsy Event

The Orsy shopping event in Second Life (SLURL) is celebrating its first anniversary, and to celebrate, there are many free presents for you! Below, Vanity Fair models some of the gifts from various vendor booths.

I do apologize for taking pictures of some of these womenswear gifts while Vanity Fair was on her post stand; it’s just much quicker to work that way sometimes, and I wanted to get this blogpost out to all you freebie fashionistas as soon as possible! Thanks for bearing with me. 😉 Please note that all gifts are free unless otherwise indicated, and no gift costs more than L$1 each. (As far as I’m concerned, if you have to pay more than one Linden dollar for it, it’s not a gift!)

First up is this combination of two separate gifts. The black-and-white lace blouse (which has a sort of gothic vibe) is the gift from the KIB Designs booth, and the black leather pants are the present from the wackily-named VAKI KVAKI:

Next is another pairing, this time it’s a black top from Tori’s Stylez (the lace is optional), and the interesting black Ana pants with the side ruffles are from Flirt. (The Ana pants cost L$1.)

The gift from Ma’De is this shiny strapless minidress, perfect for your next club outing!

From ALANTORI comes this entire schoolgirl uniform from head to toe—the socks, shoes, and even the tintable hairstyle is included! I love the detail of the saggy white socks over the brown penny loafers. 🙂 There’s also a separate cardigan you can wear over the white shirt, which is not shown in this picture. (This gift costs L$1, but you can easily mix and match the pieces from this outfit to create many other looks!)

And check out this sexy black leather minidress from Anny’s Fashions, with the side chain detail! The package includes a pair of black pumps (not shown). This gift costs L$1 to purchase, but to me it’s a Linden dollar well spent!

Finally, as is customary for the Orsy Event, we have the generous gift from LaPerla: a free fatpack of this Ariela minidress (look for the vendor located high above the stairway between the first and second level, at one end of the event). The skirt is bit too short for my tastes, but it might be perfect for you!

UPDATED! Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Three Stores Offering L$500 Free Store Credit Each, But This Weekend Only!

LANA, Shy Doll, and Studio Nova are three stores on a brand new sim, and to celebrate the grand opening, each store’s group is free to join, and each store is offering a L$500 free store credit as a group gift—but only for this weekend! Obviously, the sim has been quite busy (it’s a homestead sim which can only handle twenty avatars at a time, max), so you might need to keep trying to get in (or use a tool like the handy, free Teleporter Hammer).

With the free store credit at clubwear store Studio Nova, I was able to pick up two different colours of this Laury top and matching asymetrical skirt:

From the Shy Doll store, I used the credit to pick up this lovely two-piece Alissa set, a bodysuit and a separate, sheer laced overshirt! I consider this is an SL wardrobe staple which you can repurpose to use in many other ways, as I have shown in this blogpost, where I turned it into a Disney princess outfit!

And even better, you can pick up not one but two different colours of the Alissa set as free group gifts with your ShyDoll group tag: rose and an iridescent purple! You can then mix and match the bodysuit and sheer overshirt, if you want to mix it up.

There was so much to choose from at the LANA store, but in the end I decided on two dresses. This is the Hazel long bodycon dress, which comes in many different colours—just the thing for an elegant evening out!

And yes, Auntie Ryan is still an absolute sucker for a full-blown ballgown! 😉 (Oh, lawsy, lawsy, lawsy, if you only knew how many ballgowns I have in my avatars’ Second Life inventories…Auntie Ryan may need to find herself a 12-step Ballgowns Anonymous group!)

But behold this truly glorious Destiny gown, which includes optional sleeves and an optional lace overskirt, with the lace tintable on the bodice, sleeves, and overskirt using the included HUD! (There’s also optional sparkles, but I left them off; they’re pretty seizure-inducing…)

So hurry on down to the three-store sim (here’s your taxi), before the end of this weekend, and scoop up those free store credits—and some fabulous free fashion!

UPDATE Sept. 6th, 2021: I checked today (Monday, September 6th), and the free group store credits are still available to pick up. Hurry down before they’re gone!!!

And I am completely head over heels in love with the Destiny ballgown by LANA! Here’s what it looks like in white; I tinted the lace layer on the sleeves, bodice and skirt to a light pink to match my jewelry, and I just love love love it!!! I am all ready to meet my Prince Charming and have him sweep me off my feet.

UPDATE Sept. 7th, 2021: I checked again early this morning and the free store credit is still available at LANA, so I picked up this absolutely stunning Clara ballgown for an alt. The gown comes in two pieces, a sleek full-length gown, and an optional, dramatic overskirt attachment:

And if you like, you can even pick up a fatpack of three colours of this Clara gown (black, white, and red), in a special blood-splattered version, for the price of a single gown! Here’s what the red bloody gown looks like on my vampire alt. Equal parts fashion and horror! (You can pick up the lantern for only L$5 here on the SL Marketplace.)

The sim is a lot less busy than it was over the weekend, so if this entices you, get down here, snap up that free store credit, and go do some serious shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Pick Up 106 Free Outfit Fatpacks and 147 Free Group Gifts of Women’s Apparel and Footwear at Scandalize for Only L$20!

I don’t know if you have heard the news yet, but Scandalize (which already has a stellar reputation as by far the most generous store in Second Life when it comes to group gifts) has dropped the price to join the Scandalize store group from L$100 to only L$20. I don’t know if this discount is temporary or permanent, so I would very strongly encourage you to take advantage and subscribe to the Scandalize group NOW!

Between the older Scandalize store group (which, as I said, now costs only L$20 to join) and the newer Scandals SL Frees & News group (which is still free to join), you can now pick up a truly staggering haul of women’s clothing and footwear, including a staggering ONE HUNDRED AND SIX full outfit fatpacks. Yes, not outfits in a single colour, but actual fatpacks, with HUDs giving you dozens of colours and patterns, and oodles of styling options! An embarrassment of riches for female avatars.

Read on and learn! First, if you have not already done so (and many female avatars already have), join the Scandalize group and visit their main store, where you can pick up the following gifts from their group gift wall, 147 in total as of this writing!

There are four outfit fatpacks located in the Scandalize store as follows:

  • one if you join the SL Frees & Offers group for free (see image above);
  • one if you click on the Stay at Home vendor panel (see image above);
  • a lingerie fatpack located near the front entrance and the lucky boards, which requires you join the Scandalize store group for L$20;
  • and an outfit fatpack if you join the free Scandals SL Frees & News group, also located near the front entrance.

Don’t forget to walk around to the wall directly behind the front counter at the store, where you can pick up 20 womenswear fatpacks with your Scandalize group tag active:

Don’t forget that Scandalize also has a full wall of lucky boards located near the back of the store (you do need to be a member of the Scandalize group to slap these boards when your initial comes up). They are extremely popular, so the letters tend to turn over quickly! You won’t have to wait more than 5 to 10 minutes to pick up even more free outfits!

Here’s just a couple of examples of the free outfits you can win from the Scandalize lucky boards, which usually come in sizes to fit Maitreya, Belleza, Slink, and Legacy mesh bodies:

But wait, there’s more! Located just across from the Scandalize store, on the same sim, is the Scandalize Outlet store, where (if you join the Scandals SL Frees & News group) you can vacuum up no less than EIGHTY TWO full womenswear fatpacks!

So, here’s a summary of all the womenswear fatpacks you can pick up at one stop:

  • 82 from the Scandals Outlet store (requires the Scandals SL Frees & News group);
  • 20 from the wall behind the front counter at the Scandalize store (which requires a membership in Scandalize group);
  • 4 more fatpacks scattered around the Scandalize store (for 4 different groups)

That makes 106 womenswear fatpacks (plus 147 group gifts of women’s apparel and footwear) for only TWENTY LINDEN DOLLARS in total outlay! You don’t need to spend another Linden!

Two hundred and fifty-three gifts divided by L$20 works out to only L$0.08 PER GIFT, a truly mind-boggling bargain the likes of which you will not encounter anywhere else on the grid!

So drop whatever you’re doing, join the Scandalize group for L$20 if you haven’t already done so, and pick up some serious bargains!
