Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Free Menswear from the Gabriel FREE BEE Store!

It can sometimes be hard to find good quality, free menswear in Second Life, so you might be interested to know that Gabriel has set up a new freebie store (called, appropriately enough, the FREE BEE store), right next door to the main store. Here you can pick up a wide variety of high-quality, free menswear for your male avatar. So I decided to pop in with my main male avatar, Heath Homewood, to model some of the clothing you can obtain here!

Please note that most of the menswear comes in standard sizing only (XS, S, M, L, XL), intended for classic, system avatars, but which should also fit most brands of male mesh avatars if you use the alpha sections on the HUD which came with your body. A few items do come in sizes to fit the male Belleza Jake, Signature Gianni, Slink and Meshbody Classic/TMP mesh bodies. (Heath has a Belleza Jake body in these pictures.)

First up, we have three separate items combined to make a casual outfit:

  • a demin zip jacket (light blue as shown or dark grey versions, in Jake, Gianni, Slink, and TMP sizes);
  • chino pants (which come in khaki, olive, orange, and dark blue; standard sizing); and
  • boat shoes (camel, red-brown, and red with 4 textures each; one size only, but they are unrigged/adjustable, and resizable via menu when you click on them):
(Please note: the blue T-shirt under the jacket is a separate applier, and is not available at the Gabriel FREE BEE store.)

Heath now models a summertime look, consisting of:

  • the strap open shirt (white, grey, black, in sizes to fit Belleza Jake, Signature Gianni, Meshbody Class/TMP, and Slink); and
  • the half denim pants (white, black, light wash blue, indigo blue, dark indigo; standard sizing: XS, S, M, L, and XL):

Here’s a wintertime look, with the same boat shoes as before, plus:

  • the double-long coat set (consisting of four separate pieces: coat, the sweater under the coat, the shirt under the coat with a texture HUD, and a scarf with a texture HUD). The coat comes in dark blue as shown, plus olive, pearl grey, light brown, and black, and the coat, sweater, shirt, and scarf all come in standard sizing (XXS, XS, S, M, and L-XL). The mix-and-match possibilities are endless!
  • “sagging” jeans (which come in black, white, indigo blue denim, dark indigo denim, light wash denim, dark wash denim; standard sizing: XS, S, M, L, XL).

Finally, we have this formal three-piece suit with a subtle pinstripe, which comes in dark grey or black as shown (this is all one piece, and comes in standard sizes XS, S, M, and L-XL; the black dress shoes and socks Heath is wearing are not included):

There are many. many more items of menswear in the Gabriel Free Bee store, so be sure to check it out! Here’s your taxi.

UPDATE Jan. 11th, 2022: Here’s two more free outfits from the Gabriel FREE BEE store! My model for these pictures is my librarian avatar, Notecard Writer, who is wearing an Altamura mesh body.

This formal black three-piece suit comes in four versions: small or large stripe, and small or large check patterns. You’re all set for your next virtual boardroom meeting!

It’s all one piece, and comes in standard sizing. And it even includes a HUD to change the colour of the shirt and tie! (Please note that the shoes are not included.)

And one more casual look! This unzipped black biker jacket comes in versions with or without the shirt underneath it, in blue denim, black denim, a black floral design, or white (one standard size). The sweatpants come in white, grey, and black, in one standard size, plus sizes to fit Slink, Signature, and Meshbody Classic/TMP mesh bodies (the black Karmenov sneakers were a free group gift from VERSOV).

Happy freebie shopping!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: The 2021 Holiday Shop and Hop Is On Until January 2nd, 2022!

Second Life’s annual Holiday Shop and Hop event runs until January 2nd, 2022, and now that the Advent calendars have completed for the season, it’s time to pick up some fabulous freebies!

This year, instead of writing up a blogpost, and posting pictures of what I think are the best gifts, I have decided to post a detailed notecard of Ryan’s picks of the best menswear, womenswear, and home decor from the Shop and Hop. More information on how to join the RyanSchultz.com Steals, Deals & Freebies group can be found here (the group join fee is only L$50, and you will find it money well spent, as I often share many bargains and freebies which never make it to this blog!).

Once you join the group (search for “ryanschultz”, all one word, under Groups in Search; it’s the only one that matches), just look for the notice titled “HOLIDAY SHOP AND HOP December 2021”, which contains a comprehensive list of gifts organized by sim name, with the exact SLURLs to each of the gifts so you can teleport in and out! I made it very easy for you!

Happy freebie shopping!

UPDATED: Playing Squid Game in Second Life (And How to Pick Up FREE Squid Game Outfits!)

It was perhaps inevitable that the hit Korean TV series Squid Game would inspire somebody to recreate the deadly games in Second Life as a form of roleplay. Teleport into the Squid Game world, and click on the large black cube at the entrance to receive a set of instructions on a notecard, and a special HUD to wear. The notecard by the creator reads in part:

Welcome to the SL Squid Games!

We started work on this on the 6th October 2021 and already we have had so much interest! Thanks to everyone for coming and checking us out and for all the very kind donations we’ve received so far already!

This all came about when I watched the whole Squid Game series and it just looked like so much fun to play! It was the talk of the town! Seemed as though no one had done an SL version yet, and I love building and scripting, so I got started. Within a day or 2 we already had many visitors showing up…All of the games except the tug of war (marketplace bought) were coded by myself.

Here’s a look at two of the game worlds. As you can see, they look very similar to the television series!

Near the entrance there are, of course, vendors from various stores selling Squid Game-themed outfits for roleplay purposes (never miss an opportunity to earn some coin, people!):

Even better, whether or not you choose to run the gauntlet of deadly childhood games, you can pick up some FREE Squid Game player and guard outfits at the current round of the MIIX monthly shopping event! The MIIX event always features a themed hunt of some kind, and this time around, the theme is Squid Game. So what are you waiting for? Here’s your taxi! (Plus some tips and tricks to help you with your hunt, learned through trial, tribulation, and experience.)

Below is the hunt key; you are looking for Squid Game cards with the circle, square, and triangle symbols printed on them, which can be hidden anywhere in and around the vendor booths or elsewhere in the space. As you can see, there are hunt prizes for both men and women, plus dolls and other accessories (the green player tracksuits come in both clean and dirty versions):

This is what the clean version of the green player’s tracksuit looks like (prizes 2 and 10):

And here is what the red guard outfit looks like (prizes 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7; the rifle comes with the Bento pose shown, and the mask comes in three versions: circle, square and triangle).

Note that the MIIX hunt ends November 20th, 2021, so don’t delay!

Note also that there are also regularly scheduled tournaments in the Second Life version of Squid Game (please teleport to the sim to get more information, and to join the group). Have fun!

P.S. If you haven’t watched Squid Game on Netflix yet, apparently it quickly became Netflix’s most watched show after it premiered in September! Here’s the trailer:

I must confess that I started, but haven’t yet finished, the series; it’s a bit too gory for my personal tastes. But it’s very well done, and if you’re into that sort of thing, it might be just up your alley!

UPDATE Nov. 16th, 2021: I wanted to add a few pictures showing you the men’s hunt prizes from the MIIX event. This is what the clean version of the green player’s tracksuit looks like (prizes 1 and 11):

Prizes 13, 14, and 15 are components of In-Ho (The Front Man) character’s black outfit: black pants, a plain black T-shirt, and a black hoodie worn over top (all of which you are men’s wardrobe staples which you can easily repurpose to use outside of Squid Game roleplay!), plus The Front Man’s black mask. Please click on each image in the gallery below to view it in a larger size. (Note that there were no black shoes included as prizes in the MIIX hunt, but you probably already have black shoes in your inventory!)

Remember that this hunt ends November 20th, so you only have four days to pick up these items for your male avatar. Happy freebie hunting!

Second Life Steals, Deals, and Freebies: Menswear Gifts from the MEN ONLY Shopping Event

The October round of the MEN ONLY shopping event in Second Life runs from Oct. 20th to Nov. 15th, 2021, and there are trick-or-treat pumpkins at all the vendor booths. While some of the pumpkins are tricks (no gifts), others have a free present for you if you click on them (you will first need to join the “MEN ONLY by Flair for Events” group; this group is free to join).

Here are four gifts for men which I quite liked, modeled by one of my male alts. First we have this complete men’s outfit from ALANTORI—shirt, black pants, and black loafers—which come with a HUD to change the shirt to one of ten colours. This dressy ensemble comes in sizes for Signature and Slink male mesh bodies, as well as a version for classic, system avatars (along with body alphas). Please note that this is the kind of outfit which should work well on other brands of mesh bodies (e.g. Belleza Jake or Altamura), provided you alpha out the body underneath it, using that body’s HUD.

This black Markus pullover from INSIGHT (with the added touch of a pair of sunglasses hanging from the neckline) comes in the following sizes: Belleza Jake, Signature Gianni, and Meshbody Legacy.

The gift from JUSTICE are these beautifully-detailed Reilly pants, which come with a HUD to change the metals on the buttons and the chain to any of 6 different metal textures. These casual brown pants come in sizes to fit Signature Gianni and Geralt; Belleza Jake; and Slink male mesh bodies.

There are (of course!) some Halloween-themed gifts at the October round of the MEN ONLY event, such as these fun and funky skull-adorned black combat boots from Lapointe & Bastchild:

Novata Second Life has released a 7-minute video highlighting a few more of the gifts you can pick up at the MEN ONLY shopping event:

Here’s your limo to the event. Happy freebie shopping!
