The newest round of the Enchantment shopping event is here, with an Alice in Wonderland theme this time around. Bee Dumpling and Solas NaGealai, the owners of Silvan Moon Designs (SL Store, SL Marketplace, Flickr) have designed a truly glorious Queen of Hearts gown that will have you done up in royal style! You can wear it with or without the matching jacket. The texture work, as you can see, is stunning!
Of course, such a sumptuous gown deserves some gloriously over-the-top hair, so I paired the gown with the Yvette hairstyle from Tukinowaguma (TKW). Up and high and off the collar! You can purchase the entire fatpack, in dozens of shades, including a HUD to change the colours of the flowers, for only L$250.
This dress comes in the six colours as shown in the picture below. Each colour is L$450, or you can buy the entire fatpack for only L$2400.
Unfortunately, due to severe technical difficulties with audio streams in Sansar, the Voices of Sansar talent competition has had to be rescheduled for a later date.
This was NOT Sansar’s finest hour. I had to re-log into Sansar SIX. TIMES. in order to fix the sound problems, and it was so bad that I even had to reboot my entire computer, TWICE. A couple of times when I tried to sign in again after logging out, it wouldn’t even reload the software, and the times when it did reload, it wouldn’t even recognize my password!
Maya did her level best to fix the problems (including a particularly obnoxious troll), but after the first three singers, they decided to call a halt to the proceedings. Alfy is to be congratulated for even trying to hold this event, given all the serious technical hurdles he encountered.
It’s such a shame. We had a good turnout (35 at one point according to the Sansar Atlas). It’s clear that there are some major, serious bugs with streaming audio that need to be fixed before we can try to do something like this again. Truly frustrating indeed.
Well, this has been quite the day. I’ve enjoyed both the best (hosting guests at my own experience) and the worst (this technical nightmare) that Sansar has to offer.
I didn’t know ahead of time that my experience would be on the list of experiences to visit today, otherwise I would have vacuumed and tidied up the place a bit 😉
The snowman you see in the picture below (taken by Mijeka Munro) was created using the Oculus Medium sculpting tool. It was then imported into Blender in order to apply colours, then exported as an FBX file and placed into my experience near the spawn point of Ryan’s Garden.
Watching everyone ride on and enjoy Agustine’s musical carousel in Ryan’s Garden, laughing and talking (and then hopping on for a ride myself) was one of the happiest moments I’ve experienced in Sansar to date. It reminded me how much I loved to ride the carousel when the Red River Exhibition was in town every summer.
In the above picture, that’s me waving at Andrew the photographer, I’m the one in the grey Sansar T-shirt.
Later on, I had a blissful Zen moment at the Bonsai Garden:
An update to my earlier blogpost about the Voices of Sansar talent competition, to be held at Alfy’s Arena Live Music Stage in Sansar. He had to push back the start date, and the first round of judging of the musical artists will take place today, Saturday, May 12th.
Virtual Paradise is another virtual world, very similar to Active Worlds (in fact, the client software looks almost identical). This morning I had a short tour of Virtual Paradise conducted by Edwin, who is the programmer who runs VP. He helped me set up my avatar. I decided to pick a Star Wars stormtrooper look:
He and I chatted for a bit while standing in their City Hall:
Virtual Paradise is a lot like Active Worlds, only less busy. Only three (non-bot) avatars were signed in while I was there. Edwin built it because he loves virtual worlds and he wanted to explore the challenges of building one!
Every stylish avatar has some wardrobe essentials: pieces that she turns to time and again to pull together a classic look. Alaskametro and the Free Dove freebie store have teamed up to provide a hunt for ten such wardrobe staples. Six of the items can be found by diligently hunting for the Alaskmetro shopping bags hidden all around the Free Dove freebie store, and another four (much easier to find!) can be found at the Alaskametro store. All are FREE (although you do have to join the Free Dove group to get the freebies hidden there; the group is free to join, however). The hunt will take place only during the month of May.
Each outfit staple comes with a HUD with three different textures. Here is a picture of one of my alts, wearing the T-shirt dress in a beautiful pastel pink:
